We breed Miniature American Shepherd puppies and offer private/group training lessons with your dog. All puppies are UTD on vaccinations and deworming.

Weeping Willow Miniature American Shepherds are ethical dog breeders focused on using the considerable power all breeders have to ensure our puppies are healthy and a joy to own.

1. Our puppies are family reared so they will fit in beautifully with your family. We raise them in the house from day 1 until they leave for their new family.

2. They are never in**ed, so are very unlikely to develop

genetic illness. All of our parent dogs have full genetic panels, yearly eye exams, and OFAs completed before breeding. In fact, all our puppies come with a Lifetime Money-Back Health Guarantee against serious genetic illness!

3. They are personality tested and matched to your family so it’s a perfect match for you. You also get regular photo or video updates of their progress on our page. In addition, we get their potty training off to a great start and our puppies are chew toy conditioned, crate conditioned, and well socialized. We raise our puppies with Puppy Culture Protocols and they have a great start on basic commands (sit, down, come, stand, etc) and loose leash walking. Our puppies come microchipped with the microchip registration paid for. We get our puppies’ eyes certified (CAER) by a certified veterinary ophthalmologist. And to prevent future injury and pain, our puppies’ dewclaws are removed when they are very small and tails are docked. We support our owners throughout the life of their dog. Most importantly, we provide guidance to get their crucial early puppyhood period right, setting a strong foundation for a well-balanced, happy dog for you throughout its life.

Did you know there is a definite difference between a male dog and female dog?? Well, there truly is!

MALE vs. FEMALE: Does a male or a female make a better pet for you and your family?

It’s not uncommon for people to believe that a female dog will make a better pet. We get a lot of calls for people wanting that “special little girl”. For whatever reason they don’t think that females will exhibit “alpha” behaviors like hu***ng and/or marking. A lot of people think that females are more passive and friendly and that they don’t take part in fighting over dominance, which could NOT be farther from the truth. If you check out the structure of dog packs, the females determine the pecking order and rule the roost. The result of that behavior is that the females become more stubborn, independent, and territorial than the males. These females are much more intent on exercising their control by participating in that “alpha” behavior like hu***ng. Most fighting will usually break out between two females.

Males tend to be more affectionate, exuberant, attentive, and even more demanding of attention. The males are very attached to their owners, tending to be more dedicated, reliable and less temperamental. They are more sociable, more accepting of other pets, playful for years, and take quicker to children. Most boys are easily motivated by treats/food, words of praise and are so eager to please that training actually becomes easier. Their playful nature, however, can make males more easily distracted. The boys are more likely to act silly and more puppy-like, always wanting to play games, no matter what their age. The boys are fun-loving until the day they die, whereas girls tend to be more standoffish and dignified the older they get.

Neutered males rarely exhibit secondary sexual behavior such as marking and lifting their legs or hu***ng. Once the testosterone levels recede after neutering, most of these behaviors will disappear if they ever existed.

So before making your decision on that age old dilemma of male vs. female, hopefully this will give you some helpful info to think about.

I gave the puppies a chew stick. They all ran to either a crate or some corner of the room to get comfortable and enjoy it. Not Feather; she lies/ stands on the slide. I guess the sides help her to feel hidden.

Willow has had TWO VERY BIG wins recently! Willow has separation anxiety/generalized anxiety and it has been getting WORSE the past couple years instead of better. We've tried technique after technique, supplements, and nothing was working...she would almost seem to work herself into a panic attack instead of becoming calmer. The last 2 trials earlier this year we actually had to crate her in the car between runs because she was distracting others when I was running another dog in the ring... 🥇 Last week she was able to sit QUIETLY in a crate while company was over and I wasn't in the room with her for over an HOUR. I was able to move in and out of the room, I could TALK and not have her whining her head off. 🥈Today, she went out to the barn with me during lessons. Normally she has to stay right with me or she's crying and super distracting to the students. Today I was able to TIE her and leave AND GO OUT OF SIGHT!! The best part was she was actually laying down in the barn just relaxing while I was helping kids ❤️ Unfortunately I didn't think to get a video of that, but I did get one of being able to tie her in the arena and walk away. Y'all don't even understand how big of a deal this is for her! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 Thank you so much Johnny Guillot and Pawsitively K9 for your expertise and finally giving us a way forward ❤️
