Next Friday we'll be trailing around west K'ville with GAK9 instructors Sinead Imbaro & Kirsten Moore!!🐾👣

This video I persuaded my kind neighbors to lay a trail for Archie. The wind was blowing 17 mph with gusts up to 24.

I love this activity, still new to us, because for almost 13 minutes Archie worked this scent challenge on his own to find my neighbor. I was a factor only to keep him safe on a line and build his confidence by staying 20-30 feet behind him.

You hear me tell him to "leave it" and "get-to-work" a few times. Checking out small items and trash is left over from his sinus surgery mentioned earlier & AKC tracking looking for items on the ground.

A year ago I was biting my nails waiting to hear from the surgeon what had invaded Archie's sinuses. Thankfully, it was an infection. Gratefully, it cleared up. However, I felt his scenting ability was diminished.

In early Jan this year we spent a couple days with Shayne Schettler of GAK9 in Canton, GA. We started Arch with the GAK9 Step 1 fire trails and I could barely handle him Arch was so motivated. It became clear by the 2nd day his scenting was fine.

We went back in early Febr. & spent 10 days in GA again training with Sinead Imbaro & other GAK9 instructors for an eye-opening K9 mantrailing learning experience.

According to Archie? Big, big, fun!!

Sinead & Kirsten will be in Knoxville next Fri/Sat/Sun for a 3-day morning-to-late evening trailing workshop. Attending will be sport / law enforcement / SAR handlers.

There's unlimited auditing, if you want to check out 1, 2 or all 3 days. After the workshop I'm putting together a Knoxville trailing group. I'll coordinate a schedule of get-togethers to lay trails for each other, handle our dogs, git yer steps in and try another activity with your dog you may find bonds you two as teammates in unexpected ways.

Archie and I just spent 10 days with Sinead Imbaro at GAK9 in rural/suburban/urban trailing/tracking settings. Along with discussing equipment, imprinting, trail laying, scent discrimination, the nature of scent and reading k9 body language we improved handling skills tremendously. And, it wasn't all work!
