Pyrenean Mastiffs of Pu'uwai O Pokela Farm

Located in Kula, Maui, HI. Pups are exposed to livestock, agricultural practices and family life. PMs move seamlessly between being working and family dogs.

The Mastin del Pirineo (Pyrenean Mastiff) is
an ancient and rare breed of Livestock Guardian Dog originating in Spain. Known for strength, loyally and their protective but gentle nature. Our pups are exposed to Kunekune pigs, dwarf Nigerian goats, several species of fowl, horses, cats (barn and house) as well as our young daughter and her friends.

Sadly there will be no maternity leave for Miss Iris this time around. We didn’t see any signs of pups at her ultrasound earlier in the week.

Breeding using AI is an attempt at a marriage between Science and Nature. Sometimes even when Science says yes, Nature says no. Of course we are disappointed, but we are also undeterred. With the encouragement and support of Nomad Farm we are prepared to try again next time. ❤️.

As our others girls come into season we will announce future plans.

For now, Iris is back to work and all smiles about it, as always.

We have some exciting news to share!

Things came together rather quickly the last few days but we are happy to be able to say that our wonderful Arcoiris de Hitt has been bred with the incredible Cilio Los Hafanos, of Nomad Farm - Thank you Ola!❤️.

Both “Iris” and “Chilli” are hardworking and protective on their respective farms while being loyal and loving to family and friends. We feel they complement each other well and make a really nice pairing.

It has been two years since we had to say Goodnight Moon (Alohi de Estrella Polar).

In her two years with us she shared a lifetime’s worth of love, for which we are so grateful, but what we wouldn’t give to kiss her sweet face again.

Our beautiful Belva of Pu’uwai O Pokela celebrated her second birthday yesterday. She is such a lovely dog, silly, smart and sweet - unless you are a strange someone or something in the night - then she is bold, brave and brash. Day or night she has simply been delightful, our Belva dolce.

Arcoiris de Hitt, our sweet and sassy Iris, turned two years old yesterday. ❤️🎉.
She is our lean, mean (only when she has need to be), farm-guarding and family loving machine. She is wonderful with our animals; perfectly protective of them and our property. Iris is so fierce in fact that she could probably do the job all on her own, but she adores her pack and is such a great part of our team.

Our “A” litter were the sweetest and most wonderful pups, the perfect way to begin our journey as a kennel. They have grown into fantastic dogs and today we salute them!

On the 12th Ulyana Dei Magenifa turned five years old. The 17th was Nita Bella’s (honorary PM pack member) eleventh birthday. Yesterday, the 20th, Wafi de Reis D’Aragon celebrated his fifth.
