There has been a lot of "concern" "judgement" and more today/yesterday from people online about some rabbits in Marion, IN.
Yet, no one was getting them.
Some had good things to say, others were not so nice.
All this to say, I got them. I have got them all.
They're here at the farm.
First, I want to say.
When I got to where they were it was a garage, they were inside, it had AC on, they had water, food and even an extra bag of feed to go with them, there were actually more than double the amount of cages as there were rabbits.
These rabbits were in fact put together doubled up as the other cages were wet and drying. While no, it might not have looked beautiful in pictures, they're healthy, rabbits that were being cared for as the owner was trying to find them a home.
While, EIEIO Pastures does take on recuses of all kinds and many non rescues, we here also do things differently!
So rabbits Free range, yup! Gasps* They're out in nature running, playing, eating and enjoying life.
I have had rabbits free range for four years now. They eat Alfalfa on the barn floors from the Goats/Sheep wastefulness. They come into an area I set out rabbit food and eat when they want that also.
They have access to water bowls all over the farm, in addition here is a pond they can drink out of at many spots.
While, it is an always a controversial subject on how to raise rabbits whether it be on wire, on wood, in a house or a pasture, we have found what we enjoy the most and feel our rabbits do also.
Yes, with free range rabbits you do have some that die, just like any other. You do have some that go past your farm, cross the road and don't make it back.
This is always sad. This is how we feel they do best though. Again, I have some that are four five years old and have been running free for four years.
For those who came to see the rabbits, I will share pictures of them, here different times/days/seasons and when new life comes.
So I hope you all enjoy them, as much as we do!
