As cicadas emerge in full force this spring, it's essential to take extra precautions to ensure your furry friends stay safe.

Here are some tips from American Kennel Club to help you navigate cicada season with your pup:

🔹Supervise Outdoor Time: When letting your dog out, keep a close eye on them, especially in areas where cicadas are abundant. Dogs are naturally curious and may try to eat cicadas, which can lead to digestive issues or even choking if they ate a few at a time or the exoskeleton.

🔹Avoid Chemicals: Refrain from using pesticides or insect repellents in your yard. These chemicals can be harmful if ingested or absorbed through the skin, and they may also pose risks to your pup.

🔹Watch for Signs of Distress: Keep an eye out for any unusual behavior in your dog, such as excessive drooling, vomiting, or lethargy, which could indicate they've ingested a cicada exoskeleton.
