The cat distribution system is at it again...
I found an abandoned kitten on my front deck earlier this week. One of the feral cats literally brought it to my deck, right in front of my front door, dropped it there and then left. I am guessing it is only about 3 weeks old. I say that because it's eyes are opened, but it's not yet old enough to crawl or walk. It can barely "crawl", and gets around VERY slowly.
I left it outside for a few hours just in case she came back for it, but once evening came around, I brought the little guy inside. I know I probably shouldn't have, but I have a family of opossums that come up to my porch EVERY night for food, and opossums will eat small animals, so it was best for me to bring the kitten inside.
I have been dropper feeding him for about 5 days now, and he seems to be doing just fine. He has really adapted well to the eye dropper, and has learned to suckle on it quite naturally. Boy does this kitten have an appetite! He will gulp down between 4-5 syringes full EVERY time he eats!
As I write this, he is sleeping on a blanket next to me on my couch. I shaped the blanket like a little nest, and he is snoozing away..... almost time for another feeding, then I'm off to bed.
