Ursa Animal Reiki at LaFayette Kennels

Ursa Animal Reiki at LaFayette Kennels I am a Reiki Master Practitioner, trained in traditional Usui Ryoho Reiki. Certified since 2014. Reiki is a hands-on healing method that originated in Japan.
(1)

I combine Reiki with my natural intuitive abilities to develop the best experience for each individual client. The practitioner channels healing energy through their hands to the client, through a light touch either directly on the body or from a distance. It is based on the idea that all living beings have life energy flowing through them. When life energy is high, your pets are healthy and balan

ced, more relaxed, and less likely to get sick. When it is low, they’ll often be more easily affected by stress and less resistant to illness. Reiki is a safe complement to, but never a replacement for professional veterinary care.

**EDIT** It is regrettable that some have chosen to read this as if his hero doesn't come we are set to euthanize him so we would like to take a moment to assure you there are no plans or considerations to euthanize Herman. We hope you understand the toll this life takes on a dog - he has been in a kennel for 6+ months between the shelter and his time with us.

There is, in fact, a line that can be easily crossed by those doing this work - that line where rescuer does become the inflictor of cruelty. We work hard to make sure we are never the ones crossing it. As with all our dogs - we put no time limit on their stay. They, however; give us one. Herman is telling us every day as we tuck him in, every moment he has to go back into his kennel he needs his chance. A home is the only thing that will save him.

While we wait for that, we take him on hikes. We cuddle him. We let him help with the front desk. He gets walks, play time and outings. And we hope that as we watch him break, as we watch him give up he stays safe and we search in every way we know how to find him a home of his own.

In this line of work, there are fates much worse than humane euthanasia. Living in a kennel for months and years is one of them. So let's make sure Herman faces no such fate - share him and help us send him home.

*****************************************************

Herman is done with living the life as nobody's dog. He spent a few months in the shelter before coming to us and has waited patiently for 9 weeks to leave this homeless life behind him.

He so enjoys his outings and spending time greeting people from behind the desk, but when put back in his kennel he spins and paces and spins some more. A behavior he has been practicing since before we met him. This compulsive behavior tells us we are entering that moment when the rescuer becomes the abuser - where compassion turns to cruelty.

He needs a hero and he needs one soon. He is male, approx 10 months old (so yes - most of his short life has been lived in a kennel) and weighs in at 50 pounds, although he could use some good groceries. He burns calories faster than we can give them in his kennel.

He plays well with other dogs and has never met a person he does not want to please and be friends with. He is smart and quickly learned sit, shake a paw and down and boy is he proud of himself when he pleases you. We don't know how he feels about cats.

His new family can name his adoption fee. Please share him and ask your friends and family to share him - somewhere out there is a person who needs a friend as much as he does.

Do not allow your dog to consume large quantities of water until you have cooled them down! When the dog is sucking in this much air and then consumes large quantities or gulps of water, that dog risks, bloat and death ! Cool their body and feet first!
