Meet Alex — a true survivor with a heart full of love! Alex broke his leg and was hung up in a tree for hours.
This sweet boy was just minutes away from being surrendered to be euthanized when our rescue stepped in. We knew he deserved a chance — and now look at him! Alex recently had a leg amputation and is healing beautifully. He gets his stitches out on Monday and will officially be ready to find his forever home!

Alex is:
* Around 9 months old
* Neutered
* Up to date on vaccines
* Litterbox trained
* On flea & tick prevention
* Sweet as can be and looking for a strictly *indoor* home

Despite everything he’s been through, Alex is incredibly affectionate and resilient. He’s proof that every life matters — and that love and second chances can go a long way.

Kitten season is absolutely INSANE right now. We’re juggling multiple medical cases, fragile babies in recovery, and calls that don’t stop. It’s so overwhelming that we’ve had to pause intakes due to demand. URGENT is an understatement.

We’re currently in a temporary expansion phase, but the real goal is securing funding for a permanent facility—a place where we can grow our capacity, house life-saving resources, and share them with under-resourced rescues across Acadiana.

And one of the most powerful parts? Multiple children are working alongside us—bottle-feeding, fostering, and leading youth outreach. We want to create a space that welcomes and empowers even more young advocates.

What we urgently need right now:

Happy Birthday Linden, You are a light in this world, and we are so proud of the difference you’re making, one tiny life at a time. Keep dreaming big, leading with love, and changing the world with that beautiful heart of yours.

Today Is Her Birthday… and She’s Spending It Saving Lives.

On the eve of her 12th birthday, Linden—our amazing Youth Advocate and leader of our Kitty Quenchers youth team—was out doing what she loves most: helping animals in need.

During a community TNR (trap-neuter-return) mission, Linden witnessed a heartbreaking moment: a severely injured cat being surrendered to the shelter to be euthanized. He had been stuck in a tree for hours, and his leg was badly damaged.

But Linden didn’t hesitate.

She stepped in, rescued him on the spot, and rushed him to our partner vet for X-rays. While we initially hoped his leg could be splinted, the tissue damage is too severe. The only option is amputation—and it’s urgent.

He’s stable, incredibly sweet, and clearly fighting to live—but he’s not eating or drinking on his own yet. He wants to live. He just needs a chance.

The surgery is very expensive, and Linden is using her birthday to raise every penny to give this precious boy a second chance.

Meet Linden!
At just 12 years old, Linden has already shown more compassion, leadership, and drive than most adults—and we are beyond proud to officially welcome her as our Youth Ambassador, Honorary Board Advisor, and Founding Circle Member at Because of Brucey.

But Linden doesn’t stop there.

Each year for her birthday, instead of asking for gifts, Linden organizes her very own fundraiser—bringing her community together to raise money for spay/neuter programs and donations for local animal rescue organizations. Her heart is huge, and her mission is clear: to give every animal a fighting chance.

This year, she’s kicking off her Kitty Quenchers Birthday Fundraiser—a youth-led initiative where lemonade meets love. Funds raised will go directly to helping vulnerable kittens, providing supplies, and supporting critical spay/neuter services across Acadiana.
