🚨 Closed to Intake 🚨

As heartbreaking as it is, we have to respect both our physical space and our physical and emotional capabilities and close our doors to new intakes temporarily.

👉 What this means: we cannot take in any additional cats or kittens at this time.
Not bottle babies. Not orphaned litters. Not injured strays. Not those on the euthanasia list. No exceptions. We will post an update as soon as we're open to intakes again.

What we can do if you find kittens in the meantime:
• Provide supplies and guidance so you can care for them safely
• Offer vet care and medication when needed
• Help with spay/neuter once they’re old enough
• Allow them to participate in adoption events when they’re ready

If you can’t foster yourself, ask a friend, a neighbor, or a family member to share the duties. Bottle babies and young kittens are hard — we know, we do it every single day — but with a community effort, they can thrive.

🐾 How you can still help save lives:
• Adopt! Give a forever home to one of our waiting cats or kittens
• Donate or shop our wishlist to keep supplies flowing
• Volunteer
• Share our posts to spread the word

We need our community to step up alongside us. Together, we can continue to save lives — but we cannot do it alone. 💛

We’ll be honest—it’s been a tough week. 💔 But then this little guy shows up rocking the funniest bedhead we’ve ever seen, and suddenly things feel a little brighter. 😅✨

Good news: in about 5 weeks, this fluffball (with his natural comedy wig) will be ready to charm his way into his forever home. 💕🐾

Sometimes it’s the messy hairdos and tiny noses that remind us why we do this. 🐱💇‍♂️

🚨 Bottle Baby Fosters Needed 🚨

We’re already past capacity, and in just the past 3 days, our rescue has taken in three critical kittens. Today alone, we’ve been contacted about three separate litters of bottle babies needing immediate help that we had to say no to unless they could find a foster. It kills us to do so, we would take every last one if we could.

We can’t keep saying yes without more hands. The reality is: it takes a community to save lives this small. We need fosters.

Bottle babies need:
🍼 Feeding every 2–3 hours (a few minutes each time)
💗 Help going to the bathroom
🌡️ Warmth and love

That’s it — and in return, they give you silent naps between feedings and the joy of watching them grow.

👉 Work full-time? Ask your boss if the kittens can tag along for a few weeks. Fed and bathroomed neonates are nearly silent and take up very little room.
👉 Can’t foster alone? Ask a friend to cover a day shift.
👉 Even short-term help makes a life-or-death difference.

We’ve been quiet here, but only because our team has been working around the clock saving fragile, critical babies who had nowhere else to turn. Every day, Because of Brucey is asked to step in for the tiniest, most vulnerable kittens across Acadiana.

The hardest part of rescue? Letting our babies go. 💔 Every single kitten you see here came to us as a bottle baby or a critical case—tiny fighters who needed round-the-clock care just to survive. And after all that love and work, the time comes when they’re ready for their forever homes… but there just aren’t enough.

Acadiana is facing a serious overpopulation crisis. Too many kittens, not enough adopters. 💔 Our little ones end up getting whiplash looking every which way, looking for love—searching for the person who will love them like we do.

🐾 They deserve families. They deserve love. And maybe… they’re looking for YOU to be their hero. 🐾
