Sienna got a Grinch, and a squeaky Santa
Max got a string of Christmas on a rope, that squeaks
Pepper got a rubber weight plate and a flashing hard rubber toy, she is a power chewer
Batman got a Christmas Hedgehog and a gingerbread man that squeaks.
They each got a bag of Christmas cookies I made them, and some that we bought.
They had a fun time opening the gifts in festive gift bags with colored tissue. Our floor look like a confetti party by the time they finished, but we were in stitches watching them go through each bag.

RUFF CUT early morning video of us practicing This was the first day (last week) that we started to learn PLACE AND SETTLE CUE. Sienna did amazing! This little Furry Frenchie is smart, strong willed, funny, bossy, adorable, and at times challenging. Sienna has been here doing my Willamette Valley Boarding School program for the past 12 days. Sienna has a well mannered female Rottweiler at home, that Sienna has been challenging to the point of the two of getting into fights. Sienna is a Resource guarder (which A LOT of French Bulldogs are) if given the opportunity. They are so cute and they do this stealthily, over time, and then wham your hit with WTH!
Sienna is lucky that the other dog at home has had very good impulse control. Jemma the Rottie has used her teeth to defend herself against this 30lbs of fluff ball, but she hasnโt done damage. Itโs a miracle, and again great impulse control and relationship with her Owner has saved this girl.
my number one priority for sienna this week was to be able to build her impulse control and to learn when I tell her to leave it that she absolutely backs off! Itโs a matter of life or death and no messing around. I have paired and reinforced the word LEAVE IT!!! with the vibration of a stim collar (no shock). It has worked consistently with other dogs in my home and in situations where she would normally Not listen.
Sienna is going home today and we begin transferring the training to her owners. We will miss her, but I canโt wait to see her success at home.

I know and understand the frustration that you and your dog struggle with. I have a formerly Reactive dog - actually 2 formerly Reactive Dogs. Max my Fox Red Labrador/Rottweiler, and my French Bulldog, named Batman (not in the picture below). Both boys are rescues, and each came with a bunch of behavioral challenges, but what better person to help dogs with challenges, then a dog trainer right?
Well, having a Reactive Dog is not easy, it is stressful, embarrassing, frustrating and left me scratching my head most days when using ALL of the latest techniques, tools and methods. Thankfully I have access to classes, and other dog training methods that are not necessarily mainstream or the norm, and I have an excellent understanding of dog behavior, so I began to explore these other options and methods. I took multiple in person classes from several dog trainers, I even hired a well known Master Dog Trainer, and traveled to another State to teach me what they had success with. Some of it was valuable, some of it didn't align with my beliefs and my soul, but I took what I learned at each new opportunity and put it into my library of knowledge and experiences. Nothing was a waste of time or money, because I learned either something valuable, or I learned what was not worth my time, and that didn't work long term. Unfortunately, most of what is being taught to help our Reactive dogs does not work, or it is hit or miss. The redirecting, the food tossing, the teaching your dog to focus on you or give you the attention in order to receive a payment of a high value treat, is a band aid at best, and again these were all hit or miss. For me that was just not good enough! I needed to get to the root cause, the dog's emotional state of mind needed to be addressed, and then helped the correct way. ๐Puppy Preschool - Do you have a young puppy and want to join a class to help you and your puppy learn some basics and also how to survive puppyhood ? This is your class! This class will be for 4 students maximum with young pups that have had at least 2 rounds of vaccines. We will be holding the class every Tuesday evening 11/21 to 12/19 (skip 11/28 Thanksgiving) from 6 to 7 PM in my training studio in Mcminnville. In this class we will address puppy management 101 - schedules, best in home set up, potty training, teething and puppy biting, crate training, feeding, handling, preparing them for Vet visits/groomers, and crate training. PLUS the puppies will get to play and socialize in their own private yappy hour. Puppies must have completed 2 puppy series vaccinations. The Class fee is $175.00 per student.
๐ถYear round Private 1 on 1 Class Options - Obedience Level 1 Foundations for a Puppy or a dog. You pick the date, and time, and we can either train in my studio, or at your home with your family. This is a great option for training everyone to be on the same page with the same cues, hand signals and house manners. GREAT for families with children. The Basic foundations (Look at me, Sit, Down, Stand, Stay, Come or Here, Leave it and Drop it, Place and Settle, Walking on leash) is 3 private sessions, however if you need more, we can tailor your lessons accordingly. The fee for this option is $275.00, either in my studio or your home.

Early morning, obedience, level, one class today with learning place and settle and graduation! Now Iโm off to level two obedience in downtown McMinnville to do the third street MUTT STRUT, with eight wonderful dogs and their owners. I have classes coming up!
