Come here to find out egg availability, and learn more about our farm and the "ladies". Welcome to Clara’s Cluckers! Our egg business is named after our first-born daughter, Clara. She was born in 2010, right around the same time we got our first 75 chicks. Having a newborn and starting a new venture wasn’t the smartest thing for us to do, but we made it work! All of the proceeds from the eggs go

into a college education fund for our daughters, Clara and Hazel. We currently have 275 hens in active production. Our breeds range from the standard Buff Orpingtons and Black Australops, to the more exotic Americaunas, Wellsummers, and Silver-laced Wyndottes. We love to see all the colors and patterns when the girls are out on the lawn. Our eggs are a variety of colors as well – white, tan, dark brown, spotted, and even greenish-blue! While our eggs are not certified-organic, they are all-natural! Our girls eat mostly what God gives them – grass, bugs, and the occasional scraps from the kitchen. This diet gives our eggs tremendous flavor and a dark yellow, almost orange yolk. The hens are free-range on the lawn during the day and are locked up in a spacious coop at night to protect them from predators. We use the rest of our 10 acres to grow apples, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, rhubarb, and a large garden. For livestock, we also have sheep, some noisy geese and ducks, and a few cats. We hope you’ll give our eggs a try and see why so many of our customers tell us our eggs are the best they have ever tasted! Once you’ve tried farm fresh eggs – we doubt you’ll go back to eggs from the store!

NAILE prep! Another round of washing over lunch today - now they are all tucked into the heated greenhouse to dry and warm-up! Only 2 more sleeps before we leave!

We planted blackberry bushes a few years ago and they set fruit this year for the first time - LOTS OF FRUIT! They will all go in the freezer until we have enough to run through the steam juicer and make some blackberry jelly!

We had a good Goodhue County Fair this past week in Zumbrota, MN! Luhmann 2417 “Lydia” was Reserve Champion Meat Breed Ewe, Reserve Champion Overall Breeding Ewe, and is headed to the MN State Fair 4-H Show. Luhmann 2412 “Lucy” was 1st Place Jan Meat Breed Ewe and 4th Overall. Luhmann 2301 “Phyllis” was 2nd Place Meat Breed Yearling and 5th overall. Luhmann 2415 “Ziggy” 2nd place Feb Meat Breed Ewe and 7th Overall Breeding Ewe. All will be headed to the MN State Fair Open Show!

We’ve had a great few days at the WI State Fair showing our Montadale sheep! Our yearling rams were Champion and Reserve Sr Montadale Rams, and Yellowstone was Champion Overall Montadale Rams. The ewes also did well. We’re getting ready to head back west and straight into our county fair!

It’s Market Day friends! Do your grocery shopping tonight at the Goodhue Farmer’s Market from 3-6pm at the Lion’s parking lot! We will have loads of fresh produce and flowers in hand for you! There will also be a vendor there with sweet corn!

It isn’t all work and no play around here - we bought a pool in May and are finally getting dirt moved to get it installed! Perry is our hero!! (And seriously, the guy has skills!!). Then helped some friends from school put together some bouquets for their moms!
