Dr. Sapp’s case of the day—this gentleman got into some trouble with his few remaining incisors. Somehow he managed to break all their roots! Good thing incisors aren’t always needed to maintain a normal/healthy lifestyle. This horse has been seen prior for EOTRH, which is a remodeling/resorptive condition of the incisor teeth.

The 4th of July is almost here so we want to share with you a few Safety Tips for Horses and Fireworks.

⭐️ Find out what events are scheduled in your area and communicate with neighbors to find out if they plan to set off fireworks at their home / near your property.

⭐️ Keep horses stabled or sheltered to keep them from spooking and possibly getting out of their enclosure. Check the area they’ll be housed in for anything they might hurt themselves on if they become panicked.

⭐️ Play music for them to help muffle the sound of fireworks.

⭐️ Keep the lights on to help make the light from fireworks less bright.

⭐️ Be kind and keep in mind that even if your horses and pets are not disturbed by fireworks some animals are.

⭐️ If your horse (or pets) are wary about the sight or sounds from fireworks, talk to your veterinarian about the use of calming agents to help them through the celebrations.

It’s always good to plan ahead so we hope you find these tips helpful! Be sure to share this info with your friends and contact us if you have any questions, concerns, or if you think your horse might need something prescribed to help keep them calm❤️
