It’s a scorcher out there in many parts of the country today! 🥵 ☀️ Keep your pets inside where it’s cool and learn to recognize the signs of distress from excessive heat.
If you see a pet in an unattended car without the air conditioning running (make sure it’s not running - certain cars like Teslas have a “dog mode” which is the ability to run the AC while parked) call the local police immediately.

I’m having a fundraiser for the rescue which I have been very involved with for many years, Greater Chicago Cavalier Rescue. Dina + Tawny (our 2 girls pictured on the post), are both from the rescue. I am the volunteer Rescue Coordinator and have brought 130 dogs in for the rescue in the last 20 months; we have taken in 44 Cavaliers/English Toy Spaniels so far this year with more coming in soon. We are so busy with both owner surrenders and breeder releases.
The rescue spends on average over $900 per dog on medical expenses (many times it’s quite a bit more than this), so I decided to create this fundraiser to help offset some of those expenses, particularly the special needs cases we have taken in recently. I just picked up a 3 month old Cavalier puppy last week that will need heart surgery.

Happy 17th (Golden) Birthday to our crazy Marco! He was an owner surrender at Chicago Animal Care and Control when I was there volunteering on behalf of Roll Over Animal Rescue in late 2017. We fostered him and adopted him out: he was returned about a month later for excessive barking 😠 He barked his way right back to where he belonged, since we took him back…we then realized he fit right in and decided to adopt him.
Despite his yearly dentals since we’ve had him (terrible little dog teeth!) he’s super active, can hear a pin drop, can jump 3 feet straight into the air, loves to play, is captain of our pontoon boat, has more energy than the rest of our dogs and is still a barker 😂 I put him on a raw diet as soon as I got him as a foster and I truly believe that he has reverse aged because of it.
Cheers to 17 years, Marco 🩵 …and hopefully 17 more! 🎈 🥩 🎉
