Some of my customers might know that I am heavily involved as a volunteer with Greater Chicago Cavalier Rescue; I have been volunteering with GCCR since 2009. In recent years I have become more involved and currently serve on the Board and I am also the volunteer Rescue Coordinator and Medical Coordinator. I am responsible for working with breeders and owners who would like to surrender their dogs and then I bring them into our rescue, review medical records (if any) and decide what medical care/procedures they need. I work closely with our vets and specialists and I also manage the medical care of our special needs foster dogs that might need alternative care and therapies so they can eventually be adopted. It is a ton of work but it’s so rewarding.
These 22 pups are just some of the 56 I’ve brought in over the past year for Greater Chicago Cavalier Rescue. August 5th was my 1 year anniversary as volunteer Rescue Coordinator, and we also welcomed a 3 year old breeder release that day, who was #56 - I named him Walker - he is rescue #1,028 for GCCR.
GCCR is having a 2025 calendar contest to help raise money to care for these pups - we spend an average of $850 on each dog we take into the rescue (exam, bloodwork, spay, dental, extractions, UA, f***l, chip, vax, heartworm test, deworming, etc). We recently spent over $5,000 on a life saving heart surgery for a puppy whose breeder could not afford the procedure so he was surrendered to us so we could give him the care he needs.
Please consider clicking the link below and voting for my two GCCR rescues, Tawny + Dina - each vote is only $1 and all money raised goes to help save more GCCR pups.
Voting ends September 2nd. Thank you for your support so we can continue to rescue these Cavaliers that need us 🐶❤️
