🧑‍🎓 ITS GRADUATION WEEK AGAIN!!! 🧑‍🎓

🎊 Georgie has officially graduated his basic obedience training program!! Georgie has worked very hard for this moment and deserves all the love and treats for time well spent! 🎊

🐶 Georgie is a rescue dog that is over a year old! When Georgie came to us, he was just settling into his home when his owners decided they just wanted more for him! Georgie was enrolled here in our adult dog basic obedience program and kept excelling through training as each day passed by! From a very distracted adult puppy lacking proper training and trust in humans to a dog that now understands humans are here to help you and how prance next to you in a highly focused “heel”, we are proud to announce his graduation! 🐶

Here's 3 creative playtime routines that you should totally implement today:

1️⃣ "Find It!":

The Concept:

Hide treats or toys around the house or yard and encourage your dog to use their nose to find them.

Tips:

Start easy and gradually increase the difficulty.
Use enticing scents like strong-smelling treats or toys.
Give verbal cues like "Find it!" and "Good boy/girl!" to guide them.
This mental stimulation is excellent for all dogs, especially scent hounds.

2️⃣ "Dance Partay":

The Concept:

Put on some upbeat music and dance with your dog!

Tips:

Teach them simple tricks like "spin" or "bow" during the music.
Use a flirt pole or a long rope toy to encourage chasing and jumping.
Make it interactive by incorporating "sit," "stay," and "come" commands.
This is a great way to bond and burn off energy while having fun.

3️⃣ DIY Obstacle Course:

Laz the Labrador was dreading the holidays. Not for the festive cheer, oh no! Laz was worried about his "babysitter," 12-year-old Timmy.

Timmy meant well, but his idea of "fun" involved questionable treats (leftover pizza crusts?) and questionable walks (mostly just sitting on the porch). Laz yearned for something more.

He dreamt of plush beds, gourmet treats, and endless playtime with other canine companions. He dreamt of North Paws!

Laz, with a mischievous glint in his eye, decided to take matters into his own paws. He "accidentally" knocked over the Christmas tree, "misplaced" Timmy's favorite video game, and even "borrowed" a few socks for a very enthusiastic game of tug-of-war.

Timmy, understandably, was not amused. But Laz's parents, wiser to their furry friend's antics, saw the writing on the wall.

This year, Laz would be spending the holidays at North Paws, where quality care and canine camaraderie were guaranteed. No more questionable treats, no more questionable walks. Just pure, unadulterated doggy bliss.

🐾 It's NEVER too late to start training your dog! 🐾

Whether your pup is a young pup or a seasoned senior, the benefits of training are endless. 🐕✨ Did you know that dogs, regardless of age, have the capacity to learn new skills? Research shows that older dogs can still form new memories and learn new behaviors! 🧠🔍

According to a 2015 study published in Frontiers in Neuroscience, dogs’ brains retain neuroplasticity throughout their lives, meaning they can adapt and create new neural connections at any age. This means with patience and consistent practice, even senior dogs can learn commands and tricks!
