EXCITING NEWS!! We would like to introduce our newest veterinarian! Dr. Phillip Hairr will be taking appointments starting March 19th!
Dr. Hairr was born in San Antonio, Texas, but moved around quite a bit due to being a military kid (Air Force). He calls Colorado Springs, Colorado home because that is where his dad retired. This is where his veterinary journey began. Dr. Hairr obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. After completing undergrad, Dr. Hairr moved back to San Antonio and was introduced to shelter medicine at the Animal Defense League where he worked as a technician prior to getting into veterinary school. Dr. Hairr attended Midwestern University for veterinary school and graduated in 2022. Since then, he worked at the Arizona Humane Society as the mobile veterinarian for almost 2 years, where he traveled to different Native American reservations in Arizona to provide free veterinary care. This is something that he has always been passionate about, providing veterinary care for people with limited access. Dr. Hairr decided to move to Lake Havasu to help a new area of underserved animals. He hopes to help provide veterinary services to the people of Lake Havasu, but also the neighboring communities as well! When not at work, he loves spending time with his beautiful wife and daughter. Together, they love watching movies, going fishing, and of course, hitting the bowling alley!

Our clinic’s mission is to provide quality care and serve our community! We were excited to be the first veterinary group of Lake Havasu to accept an invitation to the annual veteran’s event. Our medical team administered FREE vaccinations/pet exams to all pets owned by veterans! We want to thank all of our veterans for their service and invite them to come to the humane society to learn more about our “Pets for Vets” adoptions.

Little miss “Tink” experienced multiple metacarpal fractures this week😢😢 but she is feeling so much better after her cast placement. She was ESTATIC to wake up from anesthesia to see her 💓BARBIE cast!She can’t wait to go home and show all her friends💓
We wish Tink a speedy recovery.💓💓 She will be back to ruling the Barbie world soon!! 💓

Shout out to our amazing vet tech team!Today we had a special patient- a 125lb pig named “Bullseye”owned by little Tanner McGuire (pictured with our medical team) We performed a castration surgery on his piggie so he can show him at the Arizona state fair pig show! Our WAHS medical team is always up for a new challenge and this team did an exceptional job monitoring anesthesia and assisting with surgery! We are happy to be apart of Bullseye’s journey to the big show! We wish Tanner and “Bullseye” the best of luck in the show ring after recovery! 🐷🐷

LHCPD Animal Control would like to share a friendly reminder to leash your pets.

Per city ordinance – 6.12.010, all animals must be confined by an enclosure or physically restrained by a leash at all times, including public spaces and your own yard.

While some pets are well-behaved, all animals are subject to the fight or flight response when startled or scared. Having a leash on your pet is the best way to keep them safe and in your control. Please be respectful of others around you who are also trying to enjoy the beaches, public spaces, and city parks with their pets. Additionally, Rotary Park is a restricted area and pets are not allowed.

First Annual Havasu Equestrian center vaccine clinic! Spring time is a great time to update your horse’s annual vaccines! We value our equine patients and it was great to spend the morning doing wellness exams! Happy Spring from the WAHS vet team! 🌞Thank you to our amazing vet techs Katie and Katlyn who assisted Dr. Solano this morning at the event and thank you to Havasu equestrian center for the partnership!🐴💉 We look forward to next year!

We are sad to see another great group of senior veterinary students leave! These past two weeks were full of shelter medicine cases, spays and neuters and even equine exams! Dr. Javier, Dr. Dypko and Dr. Gold were such a great addition to our clinic for thier 2 week surgical/medical rotation! We wish them the very best in their new career as veterinarians!
