It's frustrating when you don't have the gas or the money for gas. Thankfully, I had another squirrel come in with a donation that covered the gas. I was able to save this baby from going to a "hell of a rescue" in a bad way and get it myself. At least now she has a chance.

You have no idea how much this rescue needs and depends on donations to operate. Yes operate, not just have stuff. I know a few weeks ago I said I was closed to intakes, but really, do you think that stops them from coming? I have to just work harder and use a tens unit on my back. Thankfully it helps!

My mortgage took another huge ($372) jump thanks to hurricanes and homeowners insurance climbing again in Florida. So there went any "extra" money I had to run the rescue from my own pocket. I'll be driving uber this year just to pay my mortgage and praying I can make ends meet. I'm behind on a couple of other bills. Things are bad. I'm not sure I can keep the rescue open and operating without your help and donations.

Just in Sunday afternoon, hit by car.... no severe head injury, limbs seem fine. Trying to get her/him to eat.... haven't checked to see if male or female, that's irrelevant at this point.

The possum can withstand up to 80 Rattlesnake or Coral bites and will eat ticks as if they were French fries. Thanks to them, there is an antidote for the bite of poisonous snakes.

CLOSED for intakes till further notice. My back is jacked up, I don't know how long but I can only function about 5 minutes at a time. No volunteers, I've tried them, no one stays regular or comes regular so for now we are CLOSED till my back is fixed or I find another solution. Could be a few months or longer. Thanks for your support to this point. I'll continue to pay off the bills the rescue has accumulated :/ every card I have is maxed out.... back is jacked, financially jacked as well so I'm not able to continue.

Yesterday I read all these posts of how many plane rides, how many cities, yadda yadda.... so what? .... No plane rides, no cities...I stayed my butt right here....about 160 animals went thru my wildlife rescue.... some made it, some went peacefully in a safe place to the other side. Some were released (yay). Some are still here. Now I have cats. That was my 2024. It is what it is. It's never what I thought it would be but thank God it's OVER! Happy New Year... on with more and my butt is staying right here in Lake Helen... no plans for planes or travel, got no time for that.

Here's a few pictures I took this week around the rescue... We got a few pinky squirrels in I can't believe I'm seeing pinky squirrels in December! The raccoons are eating like crazy they love their formula and I can't keep enough in the house!
