Ward is our oldest horse here at the sanctuary at about 37 years old. He is going blind, deaf and has a little dementia. When we rescued him from Oklahoma he was emaciated and we prayed he would make it. Today he is living his best life and happy as can be!🩷🙏🌻 Such a privilege to care for this kind soul and give him the life he should have always had. Love you Ward 🥰🙏

What’s the story?
Happy Saturday everyone 🩷 Meet our two OTTB’s Breeze and Soldier. They are always together. Soldier has anhidrosis and came to us with a tendon injury. Breeze also came to us with a tendon injury. They make us smile every single day! 🌻
Meet our sweet and beautiful Sahara 🩷 Sahara was pulled from a kill pen in Kansas about a year and a half ago. She was emaciated and said to be about 12 years old. She has a club foot and some bad scars from previous injuries. When we had our vet look at her he said she was about 25 years old. Sahara is a sanctuary horse who will spend the rest of her life being cared for and loved here at the rescue. She truly is a kind soul and it’s such a pleasure to be around. We love this sweet girl more than she’ll ever know!
Good morning BRHRS Family!! We have not posted much lately as we have been super busy! For those of you who don’t know we are a small rescue that started in South Florida at a farm that we rented. Well we have big news! We are now officially at our new forever home in the Panhandle. We were able to buy property and set it up for the horses and sheep at the rescue. Our lives revolve around our family and our rescues. We have built a barn, paddocks and are working on a quarantine area to start rescuing more horses. Our sanctuary horses and sheep are all adjusting great! We look forward to saving many more horses with your continued support. Thanks to everyone who has always supported us! We couldn’t do this without you! Special thanks to Karla Wither Branch! She’s our partner in crime here at the rescue and we would literally be nothing without her. Thanks to our parents Karen and Dave who always are here helping on the farm. They are priceless and we are beyond grateful for all their help. We have been blessed with some amazing new friends that have been incredibly helpful in our move and settling in with all the animals. Thanks so much Ken and Ila Kelley!!! And last but certainly not least, thanks so much to my husband Peter! He is truly the hardest working man I know and the world is a better place because he is in it! He does so much to make sure all our rescues have everything they need! He works from before sunrise to well after sunset 7 days a week. We look forward to many years on our new farm and saving as many lives as possible! We have truly been blessed and appreciate all we have! We look forward to meeting all our neighbors in the area.
