Marissa is on her way to New Life Pet Hospital on the north side of Lakeland this morning to introduce some pups to the joys of air conditioned running! We'll be there 10am-11:30am and runs are $25 for the first 15-20 minute introductory session.

After that, we'll be at Lucky Puppy Nail Specialists on Edgewood from 1pm-2:30pm! You've got 2 opportunities to enrich your dog's day today!

🐾 A heartfelt thank you to SPCA Florida for extending the invitation to Atta Boy! Animal Care to their annual volunteer appreciation dinner. Amber and Marissa were thrilled to represent our organization at such a meaningful event. The dinner at Elks Lodge was a delight, especially with the scrumptious vegan pasta dishes and BBQ dinners. It was touching to see the spotlight on the top volunteers and fosters of 2023, and the heart-shaped ornaments painted by shelter animals added a special touch - Amber cherishes Macho's creation, while Marissa treasures Brucey's. Congratulations to Marissa on winning the cooling pillow and blanket in the raffle!

🐾🚫 Why Puppies Shouldn't Be Overexercised Under 6 Months 🚫🐾

Did you know that overexercising your puppy can have long-term effects on their bone, tendon, and muscle development? Here's why you should not use slatmills on puppies-

1. **Growing Pains**: Puppies' bones are still developing, and excessive exercise can strain their growing bones, leading to joint issues and even skeletal deformities.

2. **Muscle Development**: While exercise is important for building muscle, too much too soon can strain their developing muscles, leading to injuries and discomfort.

3. **Tendon Health**: Puppies' tendons are not fully formed, making them more susceptible to injury with excessive exercise. It's crucial to allow their tendons to strengthen gradually.

4. **Joint Health**: Overexertion can put undue stress on a puppy's joints, increasing the risk of conditions like hip dysplasia and arthritis later in life.

Remember, moderation is key when it comes to exercising your puppy. Short, gentle walks and interactive play sessions are ideal for their growing bodies and minds- not treadmills/ slatmils.

We love our fur friends at ASA Service Dogs Nonprofit !

Murphy is a labradoodle finishing up his training to become a medical alert service dog. As a medical alert service dog, Murphy will alert his handler to an oncoming medical episode by booping her leg, then performing deep pressure therapy to assist with circulation and stop blood pooling. Having Murphy alert to these episodes will allow his handler to get to a safe space until the episode passes, allowing her to be more independent and remain safe.

Some of you might recognize Charlie from our videos - we need your help finding him! He was taken on a doggie date today in Plant City and accidentally got separated from his date! Please be on the lookout and contact the SPCA Adoption Center immediately if you see him. He is very shy & afraid of strangers, so please do not chase him. Charlie is such a sweet boy & we hate the thought of him spending the night on the street alone. Share with everyone you know!
