Itchy, flakey, dull skin & coat? Not normal!

4 WAYS to improve your dog’s skin & coat:

1. Proper Nutrition - Low-quality food ingredients can leave pets nutritionally deficient. Quality ingredients and Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids nourish skin & overall health.
2. Hydration - Just like in humans, your pet needs easy access to water.
3. Regular Brushing - Brushing helps spread the natural oils in your pet’s fur & removes loose fur, which prevents matting & promotes much-needed blood and air circulation to the follicles.
4. Use The Right Grooming Products - Quality shampoo & grooming products can treat a wide range of skin issues (but the wrong choices can make them worse). Ask us for recommendations based on your pet’s needs.
Also worth considering: supplements….but just ones recommended by a vet! Not every supplement is good for every dog.

Signs of unhealthy skin/coat in your dog or cat:

1. Brittle, straw-like texture
2. Dull or faded color
3. Excessive shedding, sparse coat, or balding
4. Flakes or red patches
5. Excessive itching or licking
If your pet has any of these symptoms, the culprit could be anything from grooming habits to food choices to allergies…but regardless of why, these are issues we can and should treat!

A shiny coat isn’t just for looks…it’s a sign of canine health! A healthy coat is a sign of healthy skin, which is a sign of a healthy pup.

4 SIMPLE WAYS to improve your dog’s skin & coat:

1. Bathe them regularly - Usually once or twice a month
2. Brush that coat - Regular brushing removes dead hair & skin, spreads healthy oils, & allows skin to breathe (& helps with proper shedding)
3. Give quality dog food – Better food = better nutrition, which leads to healthier skin…just like in humans!
4. Add Omega fatty acids to their diet - Omega 3s & other fatty acids support skin/coat health (They can also help fight infection, boost your dog’s mood, and ease arthritis pain)

Some dogs may also need supplements (but just ones recommended by our vets!) Not every supplement is healthy for every dog, so pop in for a visit before starting a new diet or supplement.

We can recommend the right products & help your pup get a healthy, shiny coat!
