Saddle fit is always a consideration for our therapy horses. Rider weight, height and other factors are also key.

All riders and horses will benefit from a correctly fitted saddle. However, heavier riders (I am referring here to women weighing 180-plus pounds and men weighing 250-plus pounds) often face a different set of challenges in finding a saddle that fits themselves as well as their horses.

Have you ever met Jim Masterson in person?

He is one of the most down to earth, kind, and genuine people I’ve met.

It shows in his work, The Masterson Method, Integrated Equine Performance Bodywork

My favorite line from Jim is that, in this work, “the horse gets when you get it.”

When we aren’t rushing.

When we don’t have an agenda.

When we aren’t trying to fix anything.

Just being, and waiting.

Bringing attention to each point and waiting there, for the horse to release.

This is the wisdom in Jim’s work and in these simple techniques.

It is so often in the quiet, the simple, and the small that the biggest changes are made.

So for today, this is the idea I wanted to pass along.
