We're always eager to add more members to our KMF family! Klear Mont Farms is owned and operated by Kim Pratt, who has ridden Grand Prix and been a trainer at several barns throughout Western Washington. Kim's experience in the ring has given her a wonderful perspective when it comes to training. She is known for her uncanny ability to match up horses and riders to make the perfect team! KMF rider

s range from beginners to advanced, and can be seen at local rated shows such as Cascade Horse Shows to Canadian showparks like Milner Downs and Thunderbird. School horses are available for those without their own horse; board and training packages are available for students with their own horse. KMF features an outdoor ring as well as an enclosed indoor arena, paddocks, two barns, wash rack and two tack rooms. One of the biggest compliments you can give to your old trainer or barn is to visit when you are in town! is one of our military riders that had to leave when their time in Lakewood was up. It took her 13 years, but she finally made it back! She had a great lesson on her old friend Dolce. Thank you, Amber, for coming to visit. Great riding! What a whirlwind year 2024 was! We welcomed SO many wonderful new horses, including this amazing young gelding.

Introducing "WH Labatt Blue", or Louie! Proudly owned by Bridget Connors , Louie is your typical puppy-dog gelding type. He is kind and personable, with a generally unflappable attitude, but knows how to turn on that sport mode!

We are so thrilled to see what Bridget and Louie can do in 2025!

What's better than one new horse at the farm? TWO new horses on the same weekend!

A trip to Calgary for the trainers resulted in the PERFECT find for one of our teens, Avery, who was starting the search for a move-up horse.

Introducing- SIMPLY SOUTHERN ("Brie" 🧀), a lovely mare from the Spruce Meadows Hanoverian breeding program. Brie was one of four 2020 foals in Spruce's annual "Name The Foal" contest, with her name an homage to the Southern family, founders of the legendary show park. She is bred to be an absolute ATHLETE, and she sure looks it!

Fun fact: her sire is Spot Cash, a cousin to one of our newer horses, Baileys 114 (via Stakkato)!

We have high hopes for this partnership. Avery is over the moon 🌙! Brie's "brother" Kylo will be staying in the barn, teaching another junior the ropes.

By boat, by plane, by truck (thank goodness no train!), DERNAHATTEN DOYLE aka "Patric" has made it to the farm! Congratulations to the Gregory, Hanson, and Pratt families on the arrival of their new "baby boy"!

Patric is an Irish Sporthorse with a great personality and calm demeanor. He's already shown athleticism and promise in the show ring in Ireland- now he's ready to take the West Coast by storm in 2025.

Every few years, the photo board needs updated! From moms to Big Momma, little kids, medium kids, and kids at heart, and even our smaller four-legged friends, the new board is a celebration of why we do this- for the love of the horse and for the love of good friends.

Brooklyn, Melody, Kenna, and Ali visited next door today for a cavaletti clinic put on by ! It's always awesome to have opportunities to get "off property" without even needing a trailer!

Rainy Sundays call for a new challenge: four hunter/jumper riders swapping big jumps for tiny poles in their first-ever cavaletti dressage session. Channeling their inner dressage diva, it was less ‘artistic precision’ and more ‘chaotic interpretive dance.’ But hey, at least they all had fun! 🤣

Today's lesson was about maintaining and adjusting speeds throughout different gaits and patterns. Finding optimal placement of your horse's front and back legs translates well into jumping and keeping those rails up. Good job, ladies- sounds like there's a lot of homework!

What a great weekend for a horse show! We brought EIGHT horse and rider pairs to this weekend. Tons of firsts, including "first horse show" for a couple of pairs, "first time not needing a trainer ride" for some, first time bumping up to a new height, and first time eating before rounds without getting nauseated. 🤣

Everyone placed well, with several Champion and Reserve Champion results on Sunday! And, the riders had FUN- the most important component of it all! What a success!

Sometimes love comes when you least expect it... quite often with horses!

The prince was tall, dark, and handsome, but the Klear Mont Kid looking for a new ride fell in love with another one. Little did he know, though, that back at the barn in Lakewood, a woman who wasn't *quite* ready for her next horse was being begged by her trainer to "Drop everything; we NEED to go back to Canada to try this horse for you!" 🤣

And before he could be whisked back to his home on the Isle of Vancouver, the prince met his new princess (who was very brave in the jousting ring at Thunderbird), and so the legend began...

Mel definitely has a type- she likes big, bay, boys! She knew she'd be looking -eventually- for a second horse, but when Kevin entered the picture, she was swept off her feet. He's a kind soul, a REALLY good jumper, and loves his new older brother, Togo, and new dad, Stephen. He fits in so well at the barn, and is an absolute joy to be around. Watching Mel gain her confidence on him has been nothing short of a fairytale.

We hope to always be able to say, "...and they lived happily ever after!" Three cheers for Kevin and Melody!

Spricht ihr Deutsch? (Do you speak German?)

Bailey sure does! But she knows a lot of English, too- like "Wow!" "Look at that scope!" and "GOOD girl!"

Fans of Anna know how she's cruised around and DOMINATED the low jumpers as part of Team Banana with our favorite buckskin, Nike. As Nike takes a step back to teach some of the other littles, Anna is ready use what he taught her to take to the skies!

Bailey made her first North American show debut at Thunderbird in September, with Kim in the irons. She was such an unflappable rockstar that Anna got to do a lesson with her... after winning her Sunday Classic on Nike, of course!

Bailey is a 9-year-old Holsteiner by Somersby. Her dam sire is a familiar one to us: 🍋 Limoncello II, sire of our homebred Lynden.

Most people go on vacation and bring back trinkets- keychains, postcards, shotglasses...

Vicky went on vacation to Ireland 🇮🇪 and brought herself back a HORSE! That must have been an extra-large suitcase...

Introducing Winter, or "Winnie"- a LOVELY young Oldenburg. She has already settled in well at the farm, and we look forward to developing her over the... well, winter!

Will we have another eye-catching hunter? Or will Winnie want to whirl around the jumpers? Stay tuned!

When our military barn friends leave, it's rare we see them again. This summer/fall, we've had not one, but TWO of our past horses come back (more on the second later)!

As is adventuring overseas with her husband, she asked if we had a person for her paint mare, Georgia. They have been in Texas for the last two years, where Georgia has blossomed into a scopey, talented young jumper! We are so excited to have her back at the barn, with Caty J taking the reins for a while. Caty is looking forward to learning new skills, including how to ride a FAST horse! She is already loving how sweet Georgia is, too. Georgia was a barn favorite and is sure to have a huge fan club again.

We have a LOT of new horses on the farm this summer and fall!

Starting us off: big congratulations to Annabelle on her FIRST HORSE! This young lady has been riding with us for many years, and after searching all over for the perfect horse, she found her match right in our own barn!

Fabuleuse de L'Autrot, or Fefe, is an imported Selle Francais by Quilvaro de Lyr. She is a patient teacher with all the scope to take Annabelle up the levels. Annabelle and Fefe started their partnership strong with a great show at Thunderbird Show Park in September.

We are excited to follow the journey of this duo!

Now that the whirlwind of show season is over, we'd like to formally welcome Bridget Connors to the Klear Mont team as our Assistant Trainer!

Bridget grew up in Ohio and competed in the medals before honing her horsemanship skills as a FEI groom in Kentucky, Florida, and California. Since joining the team earlier this summer, she has focused on fine-tuning the grooming and riding skills of our existing students, and starting a good foundation for newer students. Kids and adults alike are enjoying her teaching style as well!

We are very excited to have Bridget, her dog Oro, and her horse Fefe with us. This show season was a great success with her help!

Saturday afternoon, we tried our hand at the Groom's class! Anna, Lisa, and Bridget teamed up on making Nike sparkle, with Fiona being polished up by Cati, Katelin, and Danielle! Cati and Lisa got 5th and 8th, respectively, in a good-sized class with mostly professional grooms! A good reminder on how clean your show horse should be, and how prepared your ringside kit needs to be! Show grooms are underrated- it's amazing how they keep the show running.

Next year, we're bringing the dang stepstool. 😅🤣
