This handsome 2 year old m/n Lab is all puppy energy and fun (you know labs are puppies until age 5, right?) Highest on his Christmas list? Oh no- now the elves are hitting town!!! I was actually finished with photos as it was dark when Elfonso (A5109235) wouldn't take no for an answer! Boy- did he ever want to sit down and talk! He is 6 yrs old m/n Chihuahua mix, who was adopted some time ago, given to a 'friend' and now ended up at the shelter with no one coming to get him. One of Santa's reindeer has come to Palmdale! Well, ok, Blitzen (A5596562) isn't really a reindeer, but he thinks he is when he joyfully races and jumps around the play yard! This handsome 1 year old m/n lab would love to find an active family or hiker/jogger to play with and make you laugh! You may notice sweet Nellie (A5591220) looks a bit worried...she has reason to be- she's the 2nd longest resident at the Palmdale Shelter.... this darling 2 year old f/s has obviously been bred (and then turned up as a stray) but she holds no grudges! She is sweet, gentle, takes treats very nicely, know 'sit' and will jump up for a yummy treat. Nellie has been housed with other similar sized dogs without issue.... can you be her holiday miracle? ***Palmdale BOS Pets of the Week November 10, 2023****

Don’t hesitate to come meet cuddly Baloo! Baloo (A5587976) is an eight (8) year old, neutered male, brown and white, Bulldog. He was brought to the Palmdale Animal Care Center running in traffic on the east side of Palmdale. He was with another dog that has since been adopted.

Just like Disney states, Baloo is a friendly, even-tempered character. Baloo is also patient and strong; his only apparent weakness is that he’s ticklish. Our Baloo might be a senior dog, but that doesn’t let it stop him. He has the energy of a teenager. He does have some cloudy vision and a lower grade heart murmur, nothing that requires additional treatment. As with most of us who are aging, after sitting for a period of time, he has a little stiffness in his hind legs. However, once he gets moving, he is back to the races. He thoroughly enjoys running and pouncing on the stuffed toys in the play yard. Baloo is very friendly and is willing to please, especially if a hot dog treat is involved. He knows “sit” and “down”. He walks good on a leash, though he can be a bit strong in his pulling. His favorite thing is to have his ears and rump scratched. As Baloo sings in “The Bare Necessities” – Where I wander, wherever I roam, I couldn’t be fonder of my big home. Won’t you help Baloo find his Forever Home? He can be viewed at the Palmdale Animal Care Center during its open hours of 11am to 5pm Monday through Saturday.

Not gonna lie- Dexter (A5588393) 1 yr old lab mix (like so many others) is in the shelter as a teenage dog who wasn't taught manners and now is 'hard to handle'...BUT- like most others- he wants to please you and just needs someone to train him gently! Like most lab mixes, he needs exercise- so an active family who will walk/hike/jog with him would be an answer to his prayer-- he is a gentle boy at heart- once he gets his zoomies out he focuses well and does his best to make you happy! Dexter needs basic training... he is a true diamond in the ruff! Active people- come meet the wonderful boy- a little TLC and he will be golden!!!

****Palmdale Board of Supervisors Pets of the Week for the weekend of November 3, 2023****

Looking for a sweet treat this fall? Come meet Amaretto. Amaretto (A5586145) is a one (1) year old, female, brown and white, Pit Bull mix. She was brought to the Palmdale Animal Care Center by the sheriff department after her owner was found deceased. The next of kin, unfortunately, lives out of state and is unable to take her.

Despite the trauma this dog has undergone, Amaretto was noted as being nice and friendly when she arrived at the care center. She has a very sweet and silly demeanor to her. She loves to zoom around the play yard, stopping only to try and decide which toy she wants to play with. She enjoys crawling into your lap to give you kisses. She knows “sit” and “down”. She takes treats gently. She’s been kenneled with other dogs her size and did not appear to have any issues. Once you interact with her, you will be addicted and must adopt her. Amaretto can be viewed at the Palmdale Animal Care Center during its open hours of 11am to 5pm Monday through Saturday.

Butus is a 2 yr old m/n blue and brown Doberman Pinscher who was surrendered by his owner along with his brother (who has since been adopted). Halloween is over, but you can have your very own forever Hero- his superpower is to make you fall in love with him!
Hero (AA5587833) is a one (1) year old, white and black colored, male, American Bulldog. Hero was brought into the care center as an owner surrender. The owner stated they were unable to care for him properly. They did not have the time needed to devote toward owning a dog.

Per the owners, Hero is a sweetheart. He is playful, great with kids and very gentle. He has been housed with other dogs and has not noticed him having any issues. He prefers stuffed toys over tennis balls. He loved squeaking them, pouncing on them and chasing after them. He knows, “sit” and “shake”. He loved having his ears scratched. He would have sat for hours getting pets and scratches if he could. He is a strong boy and can benefit from having a no-pull harness when taking him on a walk. He also needs to learn not to use his tail as a weapon. Anything in its way can be in danger. He happily wags it to show his excitement to play. Come meet Hero! She was picked up as a stray on 10/11/23 and has a microchipped, but no one has come to claim her (what a loss for them)! Want to have the most distinctive goof ball on the block? We found him- meet Elliot (A5584832), 8 month old m German Shepherd mix who was picked up as a stray in Llano. If you look at the photos, you may notice he has a distinctive nose- and it makes him oh so adorable (we have no idea why/what happened). And it doesn't stop him in the least- he is absolutely the class clown! Funny, sweet, full of pizzaz, he loves to race around, slide in for belly rubs and rear end scratches, then take off to play with his toys (squeaky or tennis balls- he loves them all). He did ok on leash, is learning sit and to bring the toy back to you, does fine kenneled with other dogs- all he needs is someone to show him the way! Hester is having a hard time with the scary noises of the shelter- he needs someone with compassion to give him time to decompress! The second plea has been sent out on this love bug- it doesn't make sense! Someone is missing their new best friend!

Stop looking- you have officially found the PERFECT dog! Toddy (2 year old male/neutered) will steal your heart the minute you meet him! Friendly and gentle, he takes treats nicely, knows sit, shake, down, walks well on leash. Oh- did we mention he LOVES his tennis ball? He will drop it for you if you take a step back, carries it with him when he walks, and even found one in the surrender kennel and brought it to the attendant. We also discovered he loves playing in the pool...all around fun dog who will make a great addition to any home. Toddy was picked up with 2 Dobermans who have since left, but he is great friends with his new pittie roomie and is noted to be good with other dogs.
