Today is National Seat Belt Day - a reminder about the importance of all vehicle occupants wearing seat belts appropriately. In 1968, all new passenger cars were required to have seat belts installed, but these were not the three-point seat belts that are standard today. The over-60 crowd will remember the old waist-only seat belts that didn't help much when your parents took a quick turn! Seat belt use in the United States has increased over time, from 58% in 1994 to 91.9% in 2023 - but there is still room for improvement!

A sobering statistic, in 2022, 44% of passenger vehicle occupants killed in a crash were unrestrained. Buckle Up and Save Lives!

Happy National Coffee ☕ Day! Coffee Legend has it that we have a goat to thank for our morning cup of Coffee! Kaldi, an Ethiopian goat herder in the 9th century, noticed his goats acting strangely after eating the berries of a nearby shrub. Kaldi tasted the berries and found they made him feel more energetic, so he brought them to a monastery to share his discovery. The monks initially thought the berries were a devilish temptation and threw them into a fire, but the resulting smell of roasted Coffee intrigued them. They saved the beans, ground them up, and brewed the first cup of Coffee. Thank you, Kaldi and your goats!
