Help! How do I keep my doodle warm in the winter?
Recently someone reached out to me to ask for tips on keeping their new doodle in a longer, fuller coat for the winter. I went to work gathering links and videos and I thought some of my other clients and dog owners might benefit as well.

To keep any doodle type dog in a full coat you will have to brush fully every 1-3 days depending on the time of year and how often they get wet, muddy, rough play, etc. Scratching and chewing will cause you major issues with matting so keeping them on a monthly flea preventative is a must. I would try to invest in a grooming table for brushing. Most people are not successful on the floor or furniture getting into all the more difficult places. Finally, make sure they are booked in a regular monthly grooming schedule. For a long coat you really can't go longer than a month in between a good bath, blow out and brushing. You can do it at home but the supplies can be costly upfront and it takes some practice to get to that professional level.

There is no reason your dog would need a longer fur coat than that unless they are literally living outdoors which I don't recommend either!
