This past weekend, our ECL Show Team had a fantastic time at the ICFF Halloweekend Open Horse Show! This marks our 5th year attending, and we love it more every time!

Our riders did an incredible job with their patterns and rides — even snagging some top placings in several classes. And of course, we could not forget the always-fun costume class! 🎃🐴

Congratulations to the entire ECL Show Team — you all did an amazing job and made us so proud!

Annabelle worked with Moon in showmanship with a couple of very nice patterns. She also rocked it out in English equitation with Lance earning two 2nd places!

Nazaya took Sully in walk/trot/canter for the first time and did a nice job! They have only been working together on their canter for a couple of months and have already made great progress. She also got 3rd in the costume class and 3rd and 5th in ranch pleasure with Moon out of 13!

Keira and Lance worked together in showmanship, having a solid run together! They continue to grow as a team!

Annasophia competed in walk/trot with Lance, having great rides with some tough competition!

Field trips are back in full swing! We love seeing the students return to the barn to learn, explore, and connect with the horses!

If you have been following along with all the happenings at ECL lately, you have probably seen that the Red Barn has been a major project!

In September, we kicked things off by cleaning it out and adding new grooming bays. Then, in early October, MSU Spartan Service Day students joined us to give the barn a fresh coat of ECL red paint! They also helped clean gates, repair fencing, and clear trails — tackling some of our biggest projects with incredible teamwork and energy.

More recently, the Pre-Veterinary Medical Association stopped by to help us organize storage areas and get everything ready for the rest of the school year. We are so grateful for both groups for lending their time, enthusiasm, and hard work to keep ECL looking its best!

We had an amazing Halloween event last night at the Equine Center for Learning! A huge thank-you to everyone who came out to join the fun — from trick-or-treating with our horses to games and laughter, it was a night to remember! 🎃🐴🧡

We loved seeing all the creative costumes and smiling faces!

Additionally huge thank you to everyone who made it possible — our incredible volunteers, those who helped spread the word, and everyone who donated candy. Your support helped create such a fun and festive evening for our community!

Interested in learning how to paint horses in watercolor? Join me for this fun one day workshop October 4 in Lansing! I will teach the basics of watercolor and how I approach painting horses. We will use the horses at the center for our models! Participants will leave with an 8x10 watercolor of their favorite horse! All supplies provided and no experience necessary! Come join me and the horses for a fun evening of painting 💙

We are gearing up for our Halloween event and could use your help! We are accepting candy donations to make this event a spooky success. Please make sure all candy is individually wrapped, store-bought, and in its original packaging. Drop off your donations by October 14th to the Equine Center for Learning.
