Susie Needs a Forever Home
April 20, 2023
Susie’s History
My father, who is 99 years old, rescued Susie (She is small a pit mix.) from the streets when she was about 3-6 months old. She is now about 4 years old and weighs approximately 35 lbs.
Behavior and attitude: She is sweet – very friendly and quiet. I have cared for her for about a month and have yet to hear her bark. She had been living with several different dogs. The other dogs have been all sizes and gets along with all the other dogs.
Because of my father’s health issues through these years, Susie has not experienced the open outdoors much. I realized since I have had her that grass and wildlife is a new experience for her. She stayed put along my side when she saw deer. She was very curious.
Health Issues: None. She is spayed and will be vaccinated before she is adopted.
Most of her life, she has been held outside in a gated area regardless of the weather and mostly alone with little attention. It is a miracle that she has not been hit by a car since my father lives on a very busy streets with speeding cars passing by constantly.
She walks on a leash easily without pulling. She also walks alongside you with or without a leash. While she has pooped and peed in cement, she is adjusting to grass.
Susie has lived with children and has never shown any aggression to anyone whether a dog or person. In fact, when a small dog attempted to attack her, she cowered.
During this time with me, children have been present and they have loved her tenderness, constantly wagging her tail. Just the other day, I saw her playfully running in the grass with a small pup. I doubt that she has had such space to run freely. I was so happy to see her experiencing happy life.
At night, she loves to sleep on my cushy chair and sleeps through the night without a stir. I believe that most of her outdoor life has been just sleeping.
Susie will be a delight and comfort to her forever home- someone who will give her what she deserves - a safe and interactive family of one or more.
