Marly tore up my Living Room the other day when I left her cage door open while I was at work all day. She gets along great with the 3 Chihuahua Chickens(Roos), mostly because they stay away from her and move out of her way haha. Anyway, I came home to a disaster in the Living Room. Literally so many items that were on the coffee table and my art and crafts table were scattered all over the floor. Today I closed her cage door until I came home mid-day. Yep caught her in action today but was able to save the items from flying all over the place. One thing is for sure, she is defintiely not graceful and will step on anything and everything and not care where it ends up haha.

It is most definitely a Marly photo overload haha. Can you tell where she likes to perch haha. Also that face, I just can’t, I want to smother her with tons of kisses haha, and those ginormous grayish green legs and toes of hers, I just love her so very much!

Sleeping with Marly is quite interesting because she will snuggle and then she gets up and moves about and will go from one place to another throughout the night. This girl snatched up my heart immediately.

All items purchased on Chewy have been delivered and now the Pidgies have their specialty feed and the Chickens also got a 40lb bag of specialty feed to give them an extra boost through the change of seasons. Eventhough the birds are indoors, I don’t keep it as warm as some may think. Right now the house and rooms have been staying around 68-70 with a few small heaters on occassionally, but the Chicken Community is around 65-67 and when it gets colder outside it will drop in the house to about 65-67 upstairs and then 62-65 downstairs. Thanks again to those who helped with donations making it possible to get the feed the Pidgies and Chickens needed.

My sleepy girl Marly snuggling in for the night. She really is a blessing. Some people sleep with their cats and others sleep with their dogs and I sleep with my chickens. Sweet Dreams Everyone!

You all mean so much to me and helped me in so many ways get through so many challenges over the last few weeks, especially the past 7-10 days which were filled with so many challenges and heartache. What the donations paid for: Monies toward the emergency vet bill; Water Bill and Reconnection Fee; TSC Chicken crumble, scratch, and treats (2x); Chewy order for feed for pigeons and some additional feed for chickens; numerous items for upgrades throughout the Bird Rooms; and some monies left in the emergency fund to possibly use toward aquamation for the 6+ bodies in my freezer that have been in there for way too long now. I am beyond grateful for every single donation and engagement with all the posts and videos/reels. We love you all so much!

enjoying some fresh feed and water after I finished cleaning their room. Cleaning takes about 2.5 hours and that is not even a major cleaning, just scraping and vacuuming. They are really awesome birds though and def don’t receive the appreciation they truly deserve.

A day off from my BCBA job and Uber is not a day off from everything that needs to be done in my house for all of the Birds. Today not only did I clean the cages for the Doves in my Bedroom and put up the new thicker Winter curtains, but I also spent 2 hours and 20 minutes cleaning the Pigeon Room. I also did a spot cleaning in the Living Room and provided all the other Bird Rooms with fresh Water & Feed. The amount of time I have to actually kick back and relax is very limited. At the end of the day I feel so satisfied that I was able to get a lot done. It is now 6:53pm and I am waiting for my dinner to finish cooking. Around 8:30pm I will begin night time routines and by 9:00pm have most lights turned off for the night. Tomorrow I have a few work tasks to take care of and then hoping to get out and do Uber for a few hours. I will be working 5 days this upcoming week and then next weekend need to clean the Dove Room and get started on the Chicken Community. I am trying to get ahead of everything so I am leaving little to no room to become overwhelmed now that I am starting my 3rd job. If all goes well then I will most likely only drive for Uber once or twice a week for an hour here and there. Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys the pics of the Pidgies. There are 41 Pidgies in this room and they keep me busy with cleaning up after them haha. Have a Very Coo Night!

The other day I tried to casually introduce Marly to the 3 Chihuahua Chickens (Marzie, Jo, and Nat) and it didn’t go so well. I wasn’t sure if Marly was going to try and whoop their butts or if they were going to gang up on her. Honestly she (hoping Marly is a she) is still so young so the 3 of them ganging up on her would not be okay and obviously I would intervene. Today was so much more chill and she hung out in the Living Room for about an hour and they left her alone. I had the door of the XXL Cage open and she jumped right in and made her way to the very top to her favorite spot. I want her to be able to come and go as she pleases while I am at home. When I do leave the house I will lock her in the cage for her own protection. Today I have been cleaning throughout the day and just kicking back with the birds. There haven’t been any Uber Reserve trips popping up and I figured I could use a little down time since this upcoming week is about to get crazy with everything I have going on between two companies and still doing Uber.

Another item I was able to buy at Ollie’s thanks to Ashley W. AKA Seeley's Mom donation. I had some Navy Blue black out curtains on one of the windows and then just paper blinds on another. I was just making due at the time, but with Winter on the way and now five of the in my Bedroom and their cages up by the Windows, they needed some protection. The windows in this house are old and having some thicker curtains was a must. The color is more of teal, but depends on the lighting. Anyway, I just love how they look and am sure they will help block any slight drafts there may be. I also keep an oscillating heater in the room set to 68 degrees. The other two panels that I took down will get washed and used elsewhere at some point.

Thanks to those who have provided us with donations over the last few days. You continue to make this possible and have also helped reduce the amount of stressors in my life. The Pidgies still have enough feed for another week, but being able to buy them more ahead of time instead of waiting until the very last minute is really nice. I also had enough monies to add a special treat onto this order for the Chickens. My autoship is scheduled for every 8 weeks, however I need to order every 4-5 weeks and the reason I set it for 8 weeks is so I don’t end up having monies automatically pulled and placing me in a tight financial situation if it can be avoided.

Last night my little Serama hen Ash’s soul left her body and rose up to be greeted by all her friends of SCC, LLC who had passed and were waiting for her to join them. I was with her as her soul dissappeared. The hurt, pain, sadness, anger, and yet sense of relief were all present. Chickens like all other animals and humans go through the end of life stages and eventhough I was mentally prepared for what was to come, there is never no preparation or way to avoid all the emotions that take over. She loved her Rooster husband Madhu and her tiny sisters Esme and Hollis and even put up with her adopted brother Ezra. She tolerated the much larger chickens and adored her partially blind friend Jillian. She would often follow me and even fly plenty of feet to come sit on my shoulder or head. She was a light on the darkest of days. Reproductive Cancerous Tumors are common in hens and hers was aggressive and her only chance would have honestly been to have that implant done the day she was taken in for her emergency visit and even then the vet said he couldn’t guarantee anything. I am going to miss her dearly and continue to love her like all the others who had to say goodbye. Rest in Peace my sweet girl.
