Seriously, this was supposed to be delivered by 3:30pm today and the time changed like 5 times and guessing that come 10pm it will change to say that the item will be delivered tomorrow. Weird that it left a warehouse that is literally 30 minutes away from me at noon. So upset because I put off doing so much so I could literally sit by my window waiting for this to be delivered. I need to make sure that the item is not damaged because if the box looks like the last one then I plan to reject it and have the driver take it back. I have no desire to load another one in my SUV and haul it to a UPS Store in order to return it. Also don’t need anything sitting out on my front lawn in the rain. Amazon needs to get it together. I swear I am gonna cancel Prime come January 1st and start shopping in-person at a bunch of stores versus dealing with this delivery cr@p.

Good Morning and Happy Friday! It is way too early and I am still trying to shake off the sleep, but this is another one of my favorite coffee cups and even though it is a Halloween one, I appreciate it all the time. A friend from the past bought this for me when she showed me hers and I simply said “I need one” haha. I really miss that friend!

Anyway, it’s been a very long-short week of work. I had a quick meeting with the Owner yesterday and of course what I was already assuming he literally solidified for me and now my hours starting next week literally will be cut down even further. Clients are going on extended vacations so of course my work hours are going to be affected and won’t return to my normal average weekly hours until possibly February.

I am a survivor of sorts. I know changes are already happening for a lot of people and there is so much more to come as we all move into 2025. I am working on mentally, physically, and financially preparing myself for all of that as best as I can. All I can say is and and when I talk about “us” in “us all” I mean those middle class workers because we get punked all of the time and we are about to become the new class of poor who are also going to be financially struggling.

On Sunday late morning we welcomed 2 new pidgies into our flocks. This wee wittle lady, whom I renamed Darla, came to us from GLPR and she was exactly what Dahni was wanting and needing. After he lost his wife Ellie, he was becoming so lonely that he was starting to harass my other lady Lanae who is married to Kalanie. I actually received two ladies, but Darla and Dahni definitely hit it off almost instantly. Dahni has been so sweet and submissive with Darla, coos all the time for her and she is sitting on the brick the same way Ellie use to all the time. I think this was meant to be. I need to spend a little more time rearranging their cage this weekend. I will introduce the other beautiful lady later this week. Keep on Cooing and have a Great Day Everyone!

Beyond disappointed and annoyed that whoever picked this item from the Amazon warehouse thought it was okay to deliver it to me like this. I opened my front door and seen the box and thought maybe it was all packed in enough styrofoam that perhaps the machine was okay, but NOPE. I had to then haul this over to a UPS Store to return in and have another one shipped to me in hopes that the next delivery will be a much better experience. I am so behind on cleaning now because of all of this.

So today I had to make another purchase through Affirm because my much smaller Stanley Wet/Dry Vac that I used all the time finally died. Such horrible timing too, but I had a feeling it was about to happen since the motor had started making a struggling sounding noise and it kept getting over-heated. I loved that machine too, but it did a great job for 3 years and with all the excessive cleaning I do I am shocked it lasted that long. Anyway, I am excited about this new one arriving, but I really need this one right now because cleaning is now on hold until this one arrives. Anyway, I will keep everyone posted on how this one does after I get to testing it out.

Just some cool night time and early morning pics my pair Oatley and Honey who are a bonded pair of males who came into my care as fosters and became permanent residents. They really are a sweet couple and apparently enjoy the warmer temperature because they love sitting close to the oscillating ceramic heater. I have been keeping the temp in that room between 70-75 and all of the doves are doing well.

So incredibly heartbreaking and can be avoided if everyone would just SLOW DOWN WHILE DRIVING! Please think of other sentient-beings besides yourselves. There is no reason people need to be in such a hurry. Your inconsiderate behaviors often result in others pain and suffering so please just stop and think about others and SLOW DOWN WHILE DRIVING!

This was posted as a genuine question, so we hope our response gives perspective to those who truly see such things as 'innocent entertainment.' The idea that if we treat them 'okay' sometimes, it excuses our use of their literal bodies for profits, is something so ingrained in society.

Happy Chicken Moments! I love waking up and spending time with these precious souls. I love getting ready to turn in for the night and cuddling with them before turning off the lights. Oh and I love every moment inbetween that I have with all of them. Here I was saying good morning to my wee wittle girl Ash who is a Serama Chicken. There are times when she will literally fly halfway across the room to get to me and land on my head, chest, shoulder, or back.

HAPPY DECEMBER 2024! May Everyone have a Joyous and Blessed Month! The in the free-flying room are doing wonderful and let me know how much they appreciate that I placed a small (bird safe) ceramic electric heater in their room and keeping the temp around 70 for them. By this Friday our temps will be dropping to a low of 11 degrees with a high of 25 degrees and Winter has literally just begun. I will be Winterizing their window this week to give them an added layer of protection from any drafts whatsoever.

Nat literally jumps inside of the Conure cage as soon as I open the door for Jackie & Kiwi to get some free-flying time. A couple of the other Seramas jump in too, but Nat will literally stay in there for hours haha.

Jackie & Kiwi have asked me to reach out to everyone to see if someone who is looking to splurge a little or pay-it-forward would be interested in buying them a new bed for the Winter. They are upset that their caretaker (me) is keeping the temp in the house set between 65 - 68, mostly closer to 66 because the electric Bills are skyrocketing (i.e., $170+ mo). I keep the electric heaters set to 68 as well and the actual heating system in this rehabbed house is awful. I have been Winterizing and covering windows with plastic sheeting and have already bought quite a few heavy curtains and those with padding to keep the cold out. They do have a “happy hut” and know their caretaker will eventually break down and buy a better bed for them if no one else does, but they wanted me to ask others first since finances for me are a bit tight right now due to cut in work load until January/February.

Dahni is proud of himself sitting on top of the Diamond Dove cage. They are probably thinking he is a dinosaur of some sort haha. My poor boy really needs a wife. He has been chasing Kalani’s wife Lanae around. As you can see his left wing is swollen compared to his right wing because he had an injury before coming to me. He can fly, but not very well and not for more than a a few seconds at a time otherwise his wing appears to become painful for him and he has to be placed on bed rest otherwise I would place him in the Free-Flying Pigeon Room with all of the others.

Oh you’re not Vegan and you just cannot live without Bacon and Pork! This is NOT a NEED, but a very selfish WANT and a very unnecessary one. Please take the time to think about what you are contributing to. Just because someone makes it a law doesn’t make it okay. Remember people with money and power make the laws we have to live with, but doesn’t mean we need to participate. Certain drugs are now legal and not everyone participates in that. Certain people in certain positions are Felons, but not all of us want to go and become a Felon now do we????? Trust me a cruelty-free and compassionate choice goes a very long way with making someone feel wholesome. Consider that for the Holidays.

Hidden cameras and recorders strapped to their bodies. Knowing that one wrong word to a co-worker will result in getting busted. Watching animals live and die in the worst conditions imaginable, and being prohibited from even expressing the most basic compassion for them. Undercover investigators exist in solitude, cut off from everyone they’ve ever known, surrounded by people who often take pleasure in torturing animals, and tasked with working grueling hours in constant peril of being exposed. Why would anyone take on this lonely, horrific task? Because covert documentation of cruelty is changing the way people think about the animals who become their food—and saving animals’ lives by the hundreds of thousands.

A Day in the Life: 24 Hours as an Investigator
Here’s what a single day working as an undercover investigator entailed while Cody worked at Country View Family Farms in Middletown, PA.

5am - Woke up, got dressed in my street clothes, and set up my wire. Drove to the Sheetz gas station to pick up a coffee and a newspaper, and took my first covert recording of the day: a quick shot of the paper’s front page, which serves to time stamp the day’s footage.
6am - Pulled into the driveway and punched in to work. Took a shower to “decontaminate” myself from the outside world and put on a sanitized uniform. I scooped out rations of corn and soy meal to about 100 sows in the farrowing barns. As my job required, I used this time to prod the sows to get them to stand up, so that they do not become lame from lying in one place all day.
7am - Administered shots of tetracycline and other steroids to several dozen sows and pigs that were flagged as sick. Removed all the piglets that died since yesterday, and marked the cause of death on the daily tally. Most were “laid ons”—they had been crushed under their immobilized mothers.
8am - Watched my co-workers tail-dock and castrate about 300 newborn piglets. I injected each pig with iron so that the wounds do not become infected. My co-workers never changed their blades, so that by the end they were jagged and dull. A couple of the pigs immediately ruptured—their organs spilled out of the incision—and they were carried by one leg to the “death cart” to be gassed.
9am - Joined my supervisor to walk along the farrowing barns and identify young pigs that weren’t growing fast enough. She bumped some back into younger age groups to give them a few more weeks to grow. Others she simply threw in the “death cart,” a mobile bin that suffocates pigs with CO2. It’s supposed to take a few minutes, but took closer to 10 since she put so many pigs inside. “It’s incredibly cruel,” she told me, “but it’s how we’re told to do it.”
10am - Administered antibiotics to hundreds of young pigs that had been afflicted with “scours” (extreme diarrhea).
11am - Lunch break. I ate a Clif Bar and a sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and vegetarian deli meat while we talked about animal-rights groups and speculated which one of us might be working undercover. When it was my turn to be accused, I admitted it and everyone laughed.
12pm - Returned to the barns with a co-worker who was carrying a bolt gun. One of the sows in Farrowing had been suffering from a pr*****ed uterus for several weeks. Country View does not treat prolapses, so we were told to wait until she had finally finished nursing her young and then euthanize her. By now, the prolapse had turned black and smelled terrible. For the third time this week, it took him more than one bolt to kill the poor sow, causing our supervisor to dub him “Two-Shot Jimmy.”
1pm - Volunteered to go help the Gestation Barn workers tattoo ID numbers on the sows. Watched as they battered the sows with spiked mallets dipped in green ink. When my turn came, I pretended I was intimidated by the way the sows were bucking and went back to farrowing, where I gave the sows their feed.
2pm - Like every day, everyone converged in the Gestation Barn at the end of the day to perform artificial insemination. Today, about 150 sows were inseminated. Then I “showered out” and punched out.
3pm - While driving home, called my supervisor at MFA to let him know I’m okay and brief him about the day’s events.
4pm - Got back to my motel room, took off my wire, and showered for a third time that day while the day’s footage uploaded to my laptop. Took some time to chill out, have a beer, and watch the news on TV.
5pm - Watched all of the day’s footage and wrote a log explaining what was happening on screen, then wrote a narrative entry in my journal describing the day’s events. These are to assist MFA and law enforcement in understanding the context of the video footage.
8pm - Went out for dinner, table for one at the local taqueria. An acquaintance from my basketball league sat down next to me and began talking about music and politics, but when conversation turned to work, I excused myself and went home.
10pm - Charged my video equipment and packed a lunch, set the alarm, and went to bed.
