A few days ago I received a message from someone that was in need of rehoming 22 pigeons within a few weeks. He is moving and cannot bring the pidgies with him. Unfortunately a larger rescue was completely maxed out so they told him to reach out to me to see if I could help in any way. I took in 12 of the 22. He was able to rehome 2 others so still needs a home or homes for the other 8. I had to quickly clean the room as best as I could and move some furniture around. He also provided me with a new 40lb bag of feed and a box of supplements and said before he leaves he will have a box of other items and feed to donate as well. If anyone knows someone looking to foster or adopt some pidgies please send them my way as I am helping this couple try to rehome the other 8 pidgies and possibly some of these ones as well. Today was a Bitter Sweet Day saying goodbye to so many awesome people I had worked alongside of for the past 15 months. The past 2 weeks have been tearful for me, and today I bawled like a baby quite a few times. I haven’t even been able to bring myself to read all the messages they wrote in the card they gave me. The flowers are absolutely beautiful, the vegan pasta was very yummy, and the vegan donuts are delicious as well. I am never good with saying goodbye, but also very excited to begin my new journey.

I will be taking the next 3 days to get a lot done around my house and for myself before starting my new position on Monday Feb 17th. I am definitely hoping to get some much needed rest/sleep too haha.

My boy Beck is always the first to come over and say Hello to me. At least he doesn’t mind how awful I look when I choose to be a bum. Today was a Snow Day and since the clinic is closed and I have no desire to go out into the cold and snow today, I am bumming it up in my loungers (Pajamas) and a robe LOL. I refuse to bother with my hair and put on any makeup so please just focus on the really cute and sweet sitting on my head. Please show us some love by engaging with this post as it helps with monetization. We are also so very appreciative of those who would like to send us some ⭐️s. Every little bit helps these days. The Amazon List can be found in the “Featured Posts” section if you go to the Page. Here at SCC, LLC I am caring for Pigeons, Doves, and Chickens and it can be very costly at times. There just aren’t enough people with a desire or ability to care for these breeds of birds, to take in a significant amount of them, to give up a majority of their social life for them. I don’t own them, if anyone owns anyone, they own me LOL. I am always doing all of the cooking, serving food, cleaning, pampering, hygiene routines, first aid, etc. I keep telling them they need to kick it up a notch and start helping out around here 😂

Last night after work I met up with a friend who I had not seen in over 2 years. We decided to grab a meal at Big Bowl in Schaumburg, IL. Even though they are not a Vegan restaurant, they serve Chinese and Thai and were incredibly accommodating. I did find one dish that was Vegan: Green Curry with Tofu Dish with seasonal vegetables, baby bok choy, green beans, peas, and green curry with a huge mound of brown rice. This was absolutely delicious and I will definitely go there again. It isn’t often that I go out because my main focus is on my career and then all of the birds in my care, but this was such a nice treat to catch up in person and enjoy an incredibly yummy meal. Today was supposed to be to be my last day at the clinic I have been working at for a year and 3 months, but due to the crazy weather that was forecasted for today, that clinic was closed so I will be there all day tomorrow to say my final Goodbye to everyone. I love that the Fortune I got was inline with the next journey at a different clinic.

Just enjoying some time with the Doves after cleaning up their room a bit. I even removed some of the old vet wrap that was on the branch and the bar hanging over the door and replaced with fresh vet wrap.

Time to start adulting and consider the right thing to do. Funny how some people mock those who choose Oat Milk, Almond Milk, Soy Milk, etc. and yet are still drinking a liquid that comes from the BREAST OF A COW. Just because your mouth is not on the cow’s teats doesn’t make it any different. You all need to wean yourselves already and stop participating in what goes on behind the scenes to these precious sentient-beings. Cow’s milk is not necessary and you will not die without it, your bones will not suddenly become brittle and break. It will most likely be quite the opposite and you may actually start to feel so much better and gain some energy and the inflammation and bellyaches may suddenly go away. Just something to consider.

We're gonna go ahead and reiterate that the dairy industry tries to hide the reality -- telling kids as early as possible that cows just "give us milk." They throw smiling, happy cows all over their labels, and call it a day.

When I’m at work, which is a place where everyone should be as professional as possible, and some of the Therapists are so busy talking about the animals they eat instead of focusing on the children they are suppose to be working with. Just one more week, I can get through this, just one more week haha.

Night time snuggles with the and getting everyone settled in before turning in for the night. I had to tape some cardboard up on the wall behind the areas where the littles like to sleep so they don’t continue to p**p and smear it all over my walls. As much as I love them all, they sure do know how to make a lot of messes. I will soon be buying a couple wall Tapestries because the cardboard is only a temporary fix and looks awful. By the time I was ready to turn all the lights off 4 of the chickens were smooshed together on the back of that single chair and the other two were on the console by the window. We hope everyone sleeps well and Sweet Dreams!

As an Ethical Vegan I am always striving to eliminate as much waste as possible and always working on shaping my own wasteful behaviors in order to be able to continue providing the birds with as much as possible for enrichment and engagement while not wasting money and throwing out things that can be reused. So as silly and awful as this may look to some, this was actually fun to create and some of the Doves seem to enjoy it. This is their new Multi-Level Building haha. I think with more practice I can create something even better in the future. Also looking for some creative ideas from others so if this is your thing too and you have used a variety of materials to create something new and different, please share those in the comments section.

It’s been a while since I brought a chicken to bed with me for snuggles. This was Marzie’s first time getting to experience this and honestly I have no idea whether he enjoyed it or not haha. I was woken up around midnight and went into my Living Room to check on the small flock and Marzie was all alone sleeping on some furniture near the window. I felt bad so I decided to bring him back to my bedroom to sleep with me. He was calm and actually snuggled in right next to me so I am going to assume he was comfortable and at least tolerant of what was happening. He didn’t even fuss with the chicken diaper so that was a huge plus. I feel like most of my chickens are more tolerant of the diapers during their off hours (I.e. napping during the day or sleeping for the night). Some of my hens don’t even notice when they are on while others will literally spend every minute trying to get out of them haha. I deal with a lot of clean up from these birds and definitely do not want any of their droppings in my room and in my bed so they will be diapered up. The last Interview was a train wreck. I wasn’t feeling it with that company even after the second interview so not sure why I agreed to a 3rd one. Two hours of observing and speaking with others and then what I thought was an invite to a staff meeting turned out to be 8 people coming at me like they were interrogating me. They were also asking me questions pertaining to a position I had not even applied for and said that I wouldn’t be opposed to growing into at some point. No Thank You, that style of interviewing and screening potential applicants is just so icky IMO! Onto the next! That very same day I had another online interview and I am actually quite excited and feeling very good about this company and being scheduled to meet with the Clinical Director this week. Wish me luck all because I really need to be back to FT work and as soon as possible.
