DO NOT SUPPORT THE SPCA. They just posted that they are now PURCHASING PUPPIES FROM BACKYARD BREEDERS and “adopting” them out at their shelters. Don’t let them fool you: responsible 👏 breeders 👏 will 👏 NEVER 👏 let 👏 their 👏 dogs 👏 end 👏 up 👏 in 👏 a 👏 shelter 👏

This only supports mills and backyard breeders. DONT BUY INTO IT. Go to your county animal shelter if you want to adopt a rescue, or buy a dog from a breeder who health tests to CHIC standards, titles their dogs, and puts buyers on contracts requiring the dogs to return if unwanted.

This dog was found by a friend of a friend near Miz Lola’s on Blue Diamond Rd. In Las Vegas, NV and is now safe with me while we attempt to locate owners. Intact male, 9-12 months old pit or pit mix. No chip, found with leather collar and rubber collar that has since been discarded. Was very dirty but is in good physical condition, very well tempered, definitely has an owner. TRAINING TIP THURSDAY

When training animals with positive reinforcement, we offer something the animal wants in exchange for correct responses. This is simplifying, of course, but it's the basic gist of it.

While other reinforcers such as play, toys, access to places, attention or praise can all be used to reinforce behavior, food is a primary reinforcer (the animal doesn't have to be taught to like it), it is easy to deliver and pretty simple to vary the value of.

Some dogs will work for what we would consider low value food reinforcers while other swill require the highest value reinforcers.

Additionally, some dogs will work for lower value reinforcers, but to for more challenging learning situations or puzzles.

Don't be afraid to vary your reinforcers and switch them up.
