SENIOR UPDATE!!!! we got both the boys into the vet this morning to get their shots updated. They were freaking rock stars!!! The vet says they look great and they will be getting neutered next week, so stay tuned!!!

This may be the last TALE FROM THE SHEP SHACK that I write for the Air Force Puppies, but this was the first puppy to go into a home and not leave. Sentry, now named Eddie, went to a foster home almost immediately after we got the puppies. We were all pretty sure he was never leaving, but we waited until all the other puppies were adopted before we made it official. Eddie’s mom, Coley, actually spent the night with Eddie and all of his littermates the first night we got the puppies. So they have quite a history together. Coley volunteers for us so we get pictures and updates frequently. You just can’t beat a hump day TALE FROM THE SHEP SHACK!!

Flower puppy Lily is doing great! Lily’s mom, Rainey, reached out to give us an update and said Lily is super sweet and is doing great in training, in class and at home!!

Woo hoo!!! Starting the week off right! Yes! It’s another TALE FROM THE SHEP SHACK!!!
We love it when breed experienced families know exactly what they want and what they are capable of handling!! Thats exactly what we got when Brian and his family came to adopt sweet young Nika!! Nika is now named Beta and will get everything she needs as a dog of this high energy, intelligent breed!!! We couldn’t be happier and can’t wait to watch Beta grow into the amazing dog we know she is going to be!!!

SENIOR BROTHERS UPDATE!!! WE STILL NEED THAT MIRACLE!!!
These dogs are SOOOO sweet, and just want love and attention!! We will be looking for a home where they can stay together. We will be getting them neutered, chipped and up to date on shots very soon and need them to be able to heal and settle in a foster or forever home!!! Starting the weekend off right!!! The adoption of another Air Force puppy, Osprey, now named Jett, is what we are happy dancing about this morning! Maria and her family were so ready to bring another bundle of fluff into their lives and we were so happy for Osprey to find his forever home! This was the best day ever and another happy TALE FROM THE SHEP SHACK!

This TALE FROM THE SHEP SHACK will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride! It certainly did for me! In a different time, Jake would have been mine! He’s that special!!! But Jake, now named Jerry was meant to be Danielle’s dog! There’s no question about it. Back in November Jake was in a horrible car accident with his human dad. Dad didn’t survive the accident and Jake was taken to a small rural shelter in AZ with the other shepherd who had also been in the car. After a few weeks, the other shepherd was adopted and Jake was left in a strange shelter all alone with nothing comforting from his past. We had to get Jake out of the shelter and help him find happiness again. The minute we met Jake, we knew there was something so special about this kind, gentle soul. Within 30 minutes of posting Jake’s heartbreaking story, Danielle was contacting us, because she had that feeling, she just knew that Jake was supposed to be hers. So we worked through our adoption process and scheduled the meet and greet so Danielle and her shepherd, Montana could finally meet our big ole boy who had stolen everyone’s hearts! The meet and greet went off without a hitch and Jake/Jerry let us know that he had found his new home. Montana couldn’t have been any more welcoming to her new brother. We just couldn’t be any happier, and Danielle has promised to send pictures and updates! She knows how I feel about her new boy and how much it will mean to me. This has been one of the most emotional adoptions I have done in a very long time. And it’s the best feeling ever!!! Thank you, Danielle, for being the perfect home for your “little Rice-a-Roni.” This will go down as one of my favorite TALES FROM THE SHEP SHACK of all time!!!!

Awwwww……It’s a TALE FROM THE SHEP SHACK we’ve all been waiting for!!! Our sweet, vocal guy, Walter finally found his forever home!!! Maggie met Walter and knew immediately he was just the right dog for her. The perfect relaxed personality and energy level. Maggie loves to walk but also likes to hang out on the couch! It’s been a long time coming, but Walter is finally home!!!! We are so thrilled for you, Woo Woo Walter! You deserve the best and you got it!!!

UPDATE: WE ARE MOVING THESE BOYS TO A FOSTER HOME THIS WEEKEND!!!

These 8 year-old litter mate boys owner passed away suddenly and unexpectedly last August. The owner‘s brother has taken in the dogs, but can no longer care for them. I know these dog’s pet sitter personally, and she has told me what gentle, sweet dogs they are on more than one occasion. The thought of splitting them up just doesn’t seem right as they have been together their entire lives. We are looking for a foster or a forever home for these calm, easy-going, gentle dogs. They have been around kids ages 10 years and older and have done just fine. Here's something happy to get you over the hump on this windy Wednesday! Another beautiful, young family added one of our Air Force puppies to their home! Kadet is now named Cooper and is loving life with all his humans! Christina is very experienced with large breed dogs so we know this was a match made in heaven! PLEASE WELCOME 2 yr old Luke to the Shep Shack!!! This precious boy has had a rough start in life. Somehow he ended up at the Animal Foundation back in 2023. He was adopted and shortly after that, found tied to a street light pole. A Good Samaritan found him and have kept him safe, but knew that they weren’t the right forever home for him. Luke has been living with young children between the ages of 2 and 12 and he absolutely adores them. We are letting Luke decompress and will post more about him once we get to know him a little better.

Another Air Force puppy TALE FROM THE SHEP SHACK!! It’s so heartwarming to see these amazing young families open their hearts and homes to our babies!!! Ryan and his family couldn’t have been any more welcoming and so ready to add Talon to their family after losing their shepherd a while back. Talon has a female corgi sister to boss him around and 2 adorable human sisters!!! Spread your wings, little boy Talon and grow into the amazing dog we know you are meant to be!!

AND THEN THERE WAS ONE...........
Osprey, the last of the Air Force litter puppies, is the only puppy that has not been adopted. Could the Black Dog Syndrome apply to precious puppies like it does to adult black dogs in shelters? Osprey was the only black puppy in the litter and there's been very little interest in him. He is so sweet and loves human affection. If you are looking for a big ball of black floof to add to your family, Osprey is your guy!

Sometimes the overwhelming kindness we receive in this world comes at just the right time. To give us faith and hope to continue our mission of helping German Shepherds in need.

When a woman reached out to let us know she had some items to donate to us and the reason, we knew how special this particular donation was.

She recently lost her mother who had a 13 year old German Shepherd, Ari. Ari ended up dying within hours of his owner passing away. Ari had a new, unopened bag of dog food, several treats and two new dogs toys.

When the volunteer who took the donation, shared that those particular toys were our long time resident Lenny’s favorite, she cried happy tears knowing that this would all be going to our orphans. We hope this made the pain of her recent losses a little more tolerable.
