The Animal Foundation took in 253 lost animals last week, which is just 66% of the total animals that came to the shelter. Most of them are dogs.

Most lost dogs who come to the shelter have homes and families who love them. Remember, if you find a healthy, friendly, lost dog, the best thing you can do is try to find their owner before bringing them to the shelter:

🐾 Walk around the neighborhood where you found the dog and knock on doors to see if anyone recognizes the pup
🐾 Post flyers in the neighborhood
🐾 Have a nearby vet or pet supply store scan the dog for a microchip
🐾 Upload a photo of the pet to Nextdoor, local Facebook groups for lost pets, and Petco Love Lost: https://lost.petcolove.org/
🐾 If possible, hang on to the dog for a few days while you look for their owner
🐾 Call our Lost and Found department at (702) 955-5932 for more recommendations

Please remember, if your lost pet is at The Animal Foundation, we are willing to work with you on reclaim fees if you can not afford them. Our goal is to reunite pets with their families whenever possible. If you are ready to reclaim your lost pet, we are open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 to 7.

Vivica is a survivor. She is now in a wonderful foster home healing from whatever her life was before. After being found emaciated on the streets, her body also shows the signs of excessive baby making. 🥺 Her foster mom noticed that she was regurgitating all of her meals. After a full medical workup, a diagnosis gave us the answer, a possible case of mega esophagus. Luckily, a simple pill twice a day and an elevated slow feeder helped Vivica and now she is finally able to eat and put nutrients to work for her body, probably for the first time in her life. Vivica loves all people, is crate trained, uses a dog door, loves toys and puzzles, is super smart and not destructive. She also craves attention and loves to snuggle. She is looking for a home where she can be the ONLY child. We are seeking another foster home or an adoptive home as soon as possible because her current foster mom has an allergy. Vivica loves to snuggle so we want to make sure she can get the love, affection, and closeness she craves. Maybe you could be the beginning of the best chapter in her life! This pretty girl, omg she is so smart it's incredible. Vivica I adorable in person and LOVES people but will need to be an Only dog with someone strong enough to walk her. Guess who is ready for his furever home!! PERCY, whose name is actually Percival is such a little ball of 2-year-old energy! This adorable little guy was abandoned when his owners moved out and left him behind. A good neighbor took him in but Percy thought he was a big dog also, so that did not work out. On his right leg, he has/had an open sore. The vet believes this was brought on by stress, the stress of being left alone and he just started licking his leg. It is healing nicely now but he needs to have an eye kept on it. His last vet check-up will be on Friday, December 1st, but he is responding well to the medicated spray. He is a full-blooded Merle Pomeranian.

Percy needs a lot of activity. He is very excitable and loveable. He LOVES to eat. When he had a different cone on we used a slow feeder which did slow him down a bit. Now with the cone I have to help him eat. Right now he weighs 13lbs., so he could lose a pound or pound and a half. He eats Fresh Pet and Blue Buffalo dry food. As for supplements he receives Bixbi Immune Support and Caniclean Seawood for clean teeth.

His day consists of sleeping, yard play, and eating, and playing a little a lot with the other Pommies. They run and chase each other. He would do well with another small dog to play with. No food resource problems but he does try and eat everyone else’s food. Percy is learning how to listen to No and stay while everyone else finishes eating.

Percy loves all types of toys, especially squeaky ones, but he does not destroy them. His ideal home would be an energetic home with adventures, walks, and time spent together. He does enjoy running in the yard so a house is best for him. He is potty trained but might have some accidents in the beginning. Right now he does not have a doggy door but he should be adaptable.

95% potty trained and might mark some in the beginning but getting better every day and does not have accidents unless not taken out to potty 2-3 times a day.

Say hi to Fluffernutter! This BEYOND sweet boy was dumped in his carrier in the center of town with 2 other cats. The neverending cruelty here is gut-wrenching. 💔
His buddy Nacho went to a new trial run home two nights ago. There is one more that obviously was dumped with them but we can only save them one at a time because we need a foster or adopter for them first. This lovey-dovey boy needs a HERO, ASAP so we can get his buddy. PLEASE ? We just don't have room. 😿 Please see his video we just posted.
We named him Fluffernutter because he's fluffy and it fits him. He will maul you for love!

From Ronni Land ---This is my foster, Vivi. (Viveca). She is the sweetest girl in the world! Rescued from the streets at 2 AM by Larue Mccay, she is painfully thin and has clearly been bred. She has taken over my couch!

She loves every person she has met, but we haven't tested her yet with kids because I don't have any 😊 Vivi will soon be available for adoption or foster to adopt through Hearts Alive Village Las Vegas as soon as we figure out some digestive issues.

She is approximately 3 years old, housebroken, very obedient, loves her squeaky stuffies and ALL BALLS!!!

We are now taking applications for this 4 year old, 15 pound schnauzer mix….we’ve learned that he loves kids and he’d really like to have one or two to play with in the home….he’s great with other dogs, big and small and he’s okay with cats! Fupi Dog of the Day

I’m Lupe. I am an almost 3-year-old Hound mix that weighs about 60 pounds. I am still all puppy, I’ve learned to walk on a leash and go to the door when I have to go to the bathroom. I love people and other dogs. Because of my size and energy we suggest no children under 10. I was abandoned and would do best with another playful dog when my forever home comes along.

Sally has officially been with us for a year and has had almost zero interest!

We don’t get it at all!!

She’s a complete love bug and just wants a nice home to rest her head every night!

Sally is 110 lbs of love, and while we’re working on reducing her weight, she is still very active and loves her walks and chasing tennis balls.

She is good with other dogs of all sizes but does need dogs that are easy going since she’s a more mellow girl herself.

She is potty trained, and not destructive at all. However she will get into the trash, not consistently but if something yummy smelling is in there she’ll go looking 🙂

Sally’s adoption fee is waived to an approved home and includes her being up to date on her vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, spayed and she recently had bloodwork done.

Please help share Sally so we can find her a home for the holidays!

Giving Tuesday is in two weeks. Marvel is one of many cats who we have saved at Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions, and it's thanks to your support that allowed us to do so!

Marvel is an incredibly sweet three-year-old cat who was found and trapped on the streets. He came to Homeward Bound about a month ago from a local shelter after no one came forward to claim him because he needed long-term care. He was missing patches of his fur, he had a horrible eye infection, and was generally feeling under the weather - but his spirit was shining bright.

We immediately brought Marvel to Flamingo Pet Clinic, one of our partner veterinarians. Despite his sweet demeanor, they let us know he was in a lot of pain. His eye would have to be removed due to the severity of the infection, but before he could even endure surgery he had to fight through that infection. He began a strict course of antibiotics, eye drops, and pain medication. Skin scrape tests were done. He was given lots of TLC and closely monitored for over a week until we could do more.

Once his infection was better, he was cleared for surgery. There was no saving his eye. Removing it would be the best thing to do for his overall quality of life and his future. His surgery was successful and he recovered well. His missing fur was diagnosed as stress grooming from his pain, and he's already looking better. He's a happy, playful, adorable cat who more often than not mimics a young kitten. The best news? Marvel is officially ready for a home of his own, and that's all thanks to you!

We know we just posted Honey yesterday, but she is in dire need of support to cover her November & December housing expenses... because she's stuck in boarding for the Holidays 😞

This sweet girl has faced abandonment not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES since coming into our care! Plus, she survived living on the streets for eight months after her first adopting home abandoned her.

Please join us next Sunday, November 12th from 12PM to 3PM at Sunset Park for the PET RESOURCE FAIR. Along with other animal welfare non profit organizations, we will be there sharing information and resources for pet owners. Know anyone struggling to provide for their fur family members?
