Dunk’s 4th walk of the day is going at a slower pace 😂 I think he is finally getting a little tired 😴 maybe…
A good recall and heel command can be so vital in helping keep your dog/puppy safe.
Before letting your dog/puppy off leash, always make sure you feel 100% confident in your recall and check your local leash laws in the area you’re in.
Leash work is such an important part of training, Dunk is a leash walking pro!
Sitting when the handler stops is a great way to keep your dog/puppy calm, in a listening state of mind, and focusing on the handler.
A steady recall takes time, practice, and lots of dedication.
A great 2nd step in your recall journey is to invest in a training lead this lightweight 30 foot lead is great for puppies and small dogs to start working on recalling.
Dunk’s first day on the training lead was a huge success! What a smart boy!
Hopping into this week with a smile 😁
Look at Miss River go!
We welcome River to the farm with her not having a lot of knowledge. She’s been a young Momma a few times and had some issues breaking out of her kennel near a roadway so she came to stay on the 20 acres with plenty of room to run and swim, no escaping required.
River is a heeling pro! We are using a clicker with River as she is on a much needed diet and treats can add quite a few calories when you’re doing a lot of training. Clicker training can be extremely beneficial for a lot of reason, including being able to reward your dog without having to have treats. She also has a tracking collar on as she learns the farm so we always know where she is in case she gets lost. Be carful letting new dogs/puppies off leash in new environments. You never know if something may scare them or catch their nose and if you aren’t 100% confident in your recall, which we aren’t with Miss River, then you may end up with a missing pup on your hands. So stay safe and always use a leash or use a tracking system like this one if you have one.
Diesel was adopted from the Humane Society and didn’t know a lot other than shelter life. This boy learned so much and we are so proud to have been apart of his journey. He went home today and we are so excited for him and his family 🐾🤍
Peachy Paws Pet Store is a great place to start a training journey for you and your puppy!
This is what we like to see when going out in public.
Nice calm demeanor, no pulling, no reacting to other customers, confident, and under control. That means we did our job well at home.
Shelby is a young Golden Retriever that’s going to meet her new owner soon. She is now very well prepared and set up for success as she gets older. Starting training young helps to create a nice, calm, stable, and easy to handle adult. We love Miss Shelby!
