Finally getting some critters mounted up! About all I get done during deer season is skinning deer heads.
Waiting on some supplies for a couple of bobcats and duck, once I get those finished it’s on to probably my favorite….turkeys!

I’ll be closed starting tomorrow till after Christmas. If I’ve already talked to you about a drop off during that time then you’re all good. I’ve had another great year and very thankful to all! I’m trying my best to continue to accept work, mainly from previous customers, but also trying to keep my turnaround time within a year. If you wanna set up a drop off during that time text me on message me and we’ll try to work something out after Christmas. Thank to all and hope everyon has a great Christmas!!

Haven’t posted in a bit. Been skinning deer heads and mounting a a variety of critters lately.
Also want to add, during hunting seasons I’m almost always in my shop or close by on weekends. Always have people ask if I’m open on Saturday or Sunday. Of course I am cause I know that’s when most people hunt or can drop off or pick up stuff.

Update time….

Yesterday I got the last of my 2023 deer mounted up. Gonna probably get 5 finished up tomorrow and ready to send out the door. That will leave 11 deer that are currently drying. Should have all those done in couple weeks. Still have a few waterfowl and bobcats to get done and hopefully end of month will have those mounted. That will wrap up all my critters I received in 2023!

I’ve been at this almost 20 yrs and every year I get deer in with the capes cut short. This one pictured is the second one I’ve encountered this week. I’ve got to where I turn most away but sometimes try to save them depending on the situation. A lot of times I’ll have to put the deer on a narrow shoulder form and make them work. The one pictured I’m gonna have to patch up. The diagram I added shows exactly where to make cuts for a mount. If in doubt always cut off more than you think you need. Good luck to all this season!!

Update time…

Getting a lot of “ just checking on my mount” calls recently so figure I’ll try to give most of yah an idea of where I’m at and when yours might be done.

First off, I just had hernia surgery this past Friday so needless to say I’ve been inactive and probably will be a few more days. Before I scheduled the surgery I made sure I was ahead a good bit on mounts and able to do some easier work when I get back in shop till I’m back 100%.

So, if memory serves me I have all work brought to me from last November either finished or dried and ready for finish work. Hopefully have all that done by end of this month. Then I’ll start on work I received last December in October.

I believe I have around 20 deer still left plus some small game and waterfowl to finish off the 2023 year.

I typically just post my taxidermy work on here but thought I’d share this.

That’s me climbing a tree in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park about to look at a momma bear and her 3 cubs. This was in 2003 doing some seasonal work after college and a moment I’ll never forget.
