OLD PICTURE!!!
I’ve been thinking about how much Ash has grown. He was so tiny when we brought him home…and so young to have to lose so much of himself.

The staph infection he had was so bad that the vet had to use much more powerful antibiotics than you’re supposed to use on kittens…we knew going in that it was his only chance at any life at all, so we took the risk. They said it would stunt his growth and that he may only live about 6 years.

Well…he’s pretty big for a cat with stunted growth…and he’s going to be 8 years old in a couple weeks! I’m so grateful that he’s still with us and so freakin’ healthy!

His latest project is to teach Dean that the cat runs the house…and not does he have his work cut out for him!

I wish I didn't have to edit this post like this. Gwennie wasn't strong enough for the surgery. I didn't want her to have to suffer anymore. She is with my late husband now.

Ash’s favorite toy is the weird lanyard part of a fire stick remote cover…of all things.

Please ignore my leg…Ash requires the blanket be on my lap, despite it not being the slightest bit chilly and I had no choice but to stick a leg out.

While Ash was still healing from his surgery. I had to keep the dogs away from him so he felt super confident to sleep anywhere in my office without fear of being bothered.


Edit- I’m sorry this was confusing. This picture is from 2015 when he was still healing after the surgery. I was going through pictures on my computer and it was just so cute I had to post it. I didn’t realize that my wording was a bit wonky.

Oh Athena how you are missed. This was Athena while we were visiting my dad. She always loved to lay on cool tile...which is probably why she loved our current house so much with it's bare concrete floors. Rest in peace Precious!
