Well I swore I’d NEVER get goats again. My first goat was a Boer, she was the sweetest best thing. THEN I added a Nigerian Dwarf named Lucy (aka Lucifer). Because they’re small, adorable and I’m sure they’re easy. NOT. She lived up to her name. She was awful!! They found a home with a coworker who needed some goats, and I didn’t want to separate the 2 since they were bonded buddies at that point. Time went on, I decided to try goats again. I bought 2 Nigerian Goats. Named them Beavis and Butthead. They were wethers, so maybe they’d be “better”. Yeah, absolutely not. They were worse than the first pair we had. They escaped any fencing we used, knocked everything over in sight - even got through 3 sets of fencing to my bunny barn and knocked over bunny cages resulting in a couple bunny deaths. I was DONE with goats. Never ever again. Those goats ruined goats for me. We decided to go with sheep. HALLELUJAH. Sheep don’t escape and are easy - aside from finding someone to shear them. One of our sheep (rehab baby) didn’t make it so we were left with one. I’ve been wanting to get her a friend. I’ve looked into sheep over the last few months. I needed one I could socialize to hopefully get our one sheep to follow its lead and trust us. And haven’t had luck. Back down the goat hole I went. Absolutely no pygmies. And I’ll stand by that😂 but Boers…I’ve read and talked to multiple people how they’re easier to contain and are sweet natured. Which did apply to our first Boer. In November, I found a cute one. But I wasn’t QUITE ready and still very hesitant towards goats. Months of browsing led to finding this cute girl. She is SWEET and approachable. She stays with our sheep. They are doing so well together. We can pet and love on her. She STAYS in the area we put her in. She is more my speed. I’m happy to have another lawn mower buddy - I sure needed one that I can easily move around. She is a doll! Her name is Elphaba. And yes, the sheep is GA-linda (the “Ga” is indeed NOT silent)
