The long lines you see in the pictures are always used when we bring dogs out at first, especially with dogs who do not know each other. It's a safety precaution and allows us to manage situations if and when necessary. The good news is that, SO FAR, we have been able to remove the long lines once we are comfortable with energy matches of dogs, body language, etc.

She's nervy with anyone new, just crouch down ❌
Oh heck no....
I appreciate approaching a dog is also unique to each individual dog and the situation you are in at the time but please don't approach a dog you do not know with an outstretched hand or crouch down.
There are reasons hands and faces are the most bitten parts on a human.
Crouching down puts you in a position where you are unable to move quickly, and because you don't know this dog (and they do not know you).....you may need to move away very quickly.

A sniff of a hand is NOT permission from a dog to touch them.
It doesn't mean you are now friends and have built trust, it means they sniffed your hand which was thrust right in front of them.

Many dogs will very warily get closer and sniff an outstretched hand then immediately back off if they sense you are suddenly nervous around them, they register your respiration/heart rate has changed (some are aware your adrenaline has risen too).... and they may bite that same hand if they feel threatened enough.

Your hand is in very easy reach for them.
As is your face if you crouch down.....

Our Advanced Canine Good Citizen (Community Canine) class got some FANTASTIC work done at Tractor Supply in Batavia this evening 🐶 lots of compliments from both customers and employees on how well behaved everyone was! Very proud of this group and all the hard work they’re putting it 👏

BUSY day at VIPK9 daycare today!! We alternate who is out with who at various times during the day. They were all also out together today at various times. This is a SOLID core group of dogs and WE LOVE THEM!!

Our Rainbow Bridge plan has taken a turn....for the better. We heard loud and clear from several people that a bigger bridge than I had planned would be better. So, I'm in the process of having that planned out (hopefully before winter, but no promises). I also decided a place to sit and reflect by the bridge about your precious pet would be a nice touch.

Thank you to Jacoby's Customs for this awesome chair that we asked to leave natural so we can paint it to match our bridge. This chair/table combo exceeded my expectations. I LOVE it!

Next spring, we hope to also have a koi pond as an added touch. Everything is a work in progress. We appreciate the patience!!

RIP Beetlejuice 💀
My Trail Blazer has transformed into a skeleton hearse this morning where it will be honored to carry Beetlejuice to his final resting place.

He did his job well, despite losing his head and appendages for the cause. Thank you, Beetlejuice, for your service on behalf of VIPK9.

Ill go first:
✔️ Stop leaving to go to work every day!
✔️ Start letting them steal anything they want off counters, the table, the laundry basket...
✔️ Be ready to play WHENEVER the mood strikes THEM!
✔️ Let shoes be fair game as toys!
✔️ Provide unlimited treats!
✔️ Stop leaving Dr. Phil on for them everyday 🤣

Lailah and I are getting to know each other. Slowly. She's a nervous girl, unsure of strangers, and showing some reactivity. Our first session together was all play, positive reinforcement and NO PRESSURE.
