Central Texas SPCA

Central Texas SPCA www.CentralTexasSPCa.org. A private, no-kill shelter, dedicated to finding forever families for homeless dogs and cats in the Greater Austin, TX area.

The Central Texas SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is a private, nonprofit (501(c)3) no kill animal shelter, established in 1988.

We provide shelter, food, medical care, and adoption services for homeless dogs and cats. These services are funded solely by private donations and adoption fees. We receive no government funding and are not contracted as animal control with any local municipality or county. Because we have limited space, seek to provide a homelike environment to the shelter residents, and do not euthanize to make room for new pets, we cannot accept animal drop offs. All intakes must be pre-arranged by use of our Wait List (found on our website under About Us).

General information

We strive to rescue a significant portion of our animals from municipal shelters in our area, to reduce their euthanasia rates. And we consider owner surrenders and strays based on our space availability. All animals taken in our adoption program must successfully complete a temperment test. We want to know each of our animals' personalities, energy levels, and needs to best match a pet to adoptive families' circumstances.
