You can message us over Facebook! But…🙀 Nope! We don’t have a public phone number! Because we don’t schedule appointments until we’ve met you in person! Come in to meet us!

This works for us, we thrive happily this way, and we end up with perfect fits for our pup pack!

Just like you wouldn’t leave your human child with a complete stranger, we want to make sure everyone knows each other and is fully comfortable when leaving your fluff child with us 🥰 we want you to know how we handle our pack and friends, and make sure our parenting styles line up! We want to see your dog on a regular basis, and we want to have a relationship with them more than one or twice a year grooming. We strive for our building to be a place of fun and love for the dogs, despite all of the “weird grooming things” their parents ask us to do 😅
We will spend extra time with your dog so that they are comfortable!!

We have a full schedule of regulars and take new pup pack members on a case by cases basis! Fridays our doors are open for anyone wanting to get to know us and ask questions! This is the best day to stop by! Throughout the week is ok to stop by and see if we have a minute to chat, but Wednesdays are cleaning days for the animal sanctuary.

We are so very thankful 🙏🏻 to our clients who know and understand that the responsibility of so many animals, often means that we have to shift appointments for emergencies. Our babes are the most important thing to us, and we will always put their needs first. Running a sanctuary and having so many has never been easy, but our amazing clients definitely help quite a bit ❤️ and if you don’t understand putting your kids first, we’re not the groomers or babysitters for you.
Waiting another day could have cost her her life, and we were not going to take that chance. She’s still not out of the woods, but she’s got a lot of love keeping her strong ❤️❤️

We’d like to introduce everyone to the newest misfit at Maizey’s, Jet Puff! 🥰 A couple of weeks ago, we got a very concerning message about this little guy. A caring human took him in from a barn who has unfixed kitties 🤪 (we will try to help that situation too when we can!) when his mom kitty quit caring for him. His hip, leg, and elbow, all on different legs, were VERY swollen, and he was unable to move due to his unknown injuries. We got him in to our vet within a couple of days, and his injuries were drained and cleaned, and he started medication. His eye infection cleared up within a week too!

We were unsure if this guy would make it, and waited to announce it until he really started to thrive. He is stronger every day!

Jet has his next appointment at the vet on Saturday to get X-rays done on his legs. We think his hip may be shattered 😖😭 let’s hope we are wrong!

We are so thankful for the regulars who have already met him and donated towards his healing journey. It will be a difficult one, but Jet Puff has a strong will to live, and he can do it with all of our love and support🥰

Daycare family!! We have a plan for our trips out and about with the dogs during the heat. We have ordered some booties for the bigger kiddos, and a big wagon for the smaller kids!! We are very aware of the heat and the problems it can cause, and promise to keep all of our babies safe from any heat dangers! We literally put our bare feet on the pavement every time we question it.

Always feel free to park with hazards on for both drop off and pick up if needed! We don’t want any burned paws ❤️

Today is Millie’s birthday! Her brother came in for a groom and she got to snicker at him for getting a bath while she played all day with her human and doggie daycare pals! Happy birthday, Millie! We’re so glad to be able to see you grow up! 🥳 🎂 🎉

Thursday evening we picked up a couple of girls who had belonged to someone who cared for them well, but had no need for them anymore as they had been using them for breeding females to feed their reptiles.

While their previous owner was trying to get them to us, there was an accident, and this poor girls tail got shut in the cage door 😖

Thankfully we have a wonderful vet along side us, and he donated his time for this surgery, as it was pretty easy!

We still have a bill of course, it’s not too overwhelming! But we would love help to cover the $80, and so we’re willing to work extra late a day this week for anyone who wants to schedule an appointment to help cover this surgery. Let us know if you’d like to get your dog groomed some evening this week!

Companion Pet Clinic in Salem also allows people to call and donate towards the Maizey’s Misfits account if you’d like to further assist in our sanctuary vet bills. ❤️

Hey everyone, we’ve just been informed that the parking lot on 2nd and Sherman is for permitted parking only. It is not fenced, but there is a small sign when entering the lot now. This is tough, I know, as there is already a hard time finding parking sometimes! However, that’s just part of downtowns anywhere 😅

To help with this, please know we are willing to do curbside in a hurry! We definitely don’t want to impede traffic, but you can toss your dog at us as you drive by, and we’ll catch them 😂

Also if parking is an issue for you, let us know and we’ll schedule you in a day that the restaurant next to us is closed so you have a better chance at a spot out front!

We LOVE our ancient old bank building, but please be careful when coming and going! The sidewalk continues to crumble along the edges and we’ve both watched others and ourselves fall quite a bit due to it 😅

Last month we got a message from another small animal rescue who was full. They had a desperate message from a lady who was leaving an abusive situation. This woman had a pet rat with her 7 rat daughters, a total of 8 rats who were closely bonded and needed sanctuary FAST. In the midst of whatever personal fighting was being done amongst the humans, these girls cage was smashed and the girls were being injured/abused 😫

We don’t understand why people must be so cruel to animals 😭 but we knew we had to help! These 8 girls are happy and safe at the sanctuary now ❤️
One of them is currently on medication for a respiratory illness, but otherwise everyone is good!

Last weekend we took in some rats in an awful situation 😫 someone claiming to be a rescue dumped them after keeping them in these conditions for a year. The cages were kept in a small dark laundry room. The cage the boys were living in was not even big enough for one mouse to be housed in. The cat litter under them clumped in one giant block, and they had no proper food, but a stale old hash brown looking thing 😖 no hides but one small one for 4 girls, no beds for anyone, nothing comfortable for them to stand on. Ugh.

Please guys, if people say they’re a “rescue”, look into them deeper. Even rats should be treated with love and proper care. Keeping them in tiny cramped dark conditions with no stimulation is so cruel. If they can’t even love their rats to their fullest….it’s just sad. 😭

We have these guys here adapting well, and you’re welcome to come meet them if you’re interested in giving them a home. They are happy here at the sanctuary too 🥰
