Talk about a comeback story! This brave eventer, Patrick, faced a life-threatening puncture wound after a freak accident with a hidden T-post.

But thanks to his medical team here at EMC, and his new feathered friend for moral support, he's on the road to recovery!

We're sending all the good vibes for a full recovery and a return to the eventing arena soon! 💪

During a freak accident while out on a trail ride, Patrick, an 8-year-old roan gelding impaled his chest on a metal T-post.

On Friday, October 4, the EMC held a continuing education day for Veterinary Technicians. This annual event gave participants the choice of in-person or remote attendance and offered up to six hours of continuing education credit.

Special thanks to Merck Animal Health representatives Amanda Compton and Andrew Stetson, who generously provided Merck-branded merchandise for in-person attendees to take away!

This was somewhat of a reunion for Amanda who worked at the EMC many years ago. EMC staff members who worked with her during that time enjoyed catching up!

🎉 Celebrating 40 Years of Excellence! 🎉

In October 1984, the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center opened its doors, and over the next 12 months, we’ll be commemorating our 40th anniversary! 🐴✨ Join us as we walk down memory lane, sharing special moments and historical images that have shaped the EMC into what it is today.

To kick off our celebration, we honor a visionary Virginia horsewoman, philanthropist, and Thoroughbred breeder, Marion duPont Scott. Her passion for equine care and generosity laid the foundation for the Center when she donated $4 million to make it a reality. 💙🏇

Thanks to the collaboration between Virginia Tech’s Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine and the Westmoreland Davis Memorial Foundation—who provided over 200 acres of land—the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center has become a leading, full-service equine hospital serving Northern Virginia and beyond.

Stay tuned for more tributes and stories throughout our anniversary year! 🐾📸

For the last three weeks, Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine student Tyler Robic has been working alongside our faculty and clinical staff to complete a clinical block as part of his fourth-year studies to become a veterinarian.

Tyler recently adopted a beautiful female foxhound named Raven, from the Fox Hound Retirement Program based in Hamilton, Virginia, who was formally a member of Middleburg Hunt! Raven a serial escape artist, was looking for a home with a comfy couch and lots of human love and attention.

Raven has put her best paw forward fitting in with Tyler and his love for hiking, and the pair spend many hours hiking around his family farm just outside of Purcellville, Virginia. 🐶🐾🐾🐾
