This is hands down our favorite rescue! They operate with the utmost integrity! They love animals! And they love/care greatly about people! They are not about money (although they sure could use any dime you could spare); they are not political. They are about doing everything they humanly can do to save a kitty, dog or sometimes duck!!! They make absolute certain that every possible health issue is taken care of before adopting. They also are THE most phenomenal at matching dogs, cats with the right people and taking care of the humans! I have seen human hearts broken from enduring the application process with MANY other rescues. The Safe Cat Network is not only safe for animals, but hooomans tooo!

I felt like a pig in Clover today! A dozen dogs and pet parents have worked so diligently that they can take them anywhere!!! All can loose/leash walk beautifully pretty much anywhere! The owners know exactly how to walk past an unruly dog, down a busy city street, past bicycles, and strollers, and children! They hike in the woods with a large group of dogs peacefully! John Sielski and I are soooo proud of you all! Make no mistake ! These pet parents have worked diligently for over a year. Some are into their second year of training!! Lady , the cocker had been working and learning new skills for almost ten years!!! Yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks!

We have been sharing this for years. So many times, people come in certain that they need to change their dog’s food. We hear, “We,ve tried EVERYTHING!”
Dryer sheets, fabric, softeners, strong detergents, harsh floor cleaners, carpet deodorizers, plug-ins, candles etc. wreak havoc on our dogs. We have seen horrible skin/ear issues totally resolved by eliminating these products and switching to simple non-toxic unscented ones.
Lawn chemicals can also be problematic. We’ve seen pretty badly burned feet for the sake of greener grass! Another big culprit , harder to change, is old carpet likely to be infested with dust mites. Our dogs spend their lives on our floors where the build-up of chemicals can truly assault their systems. I think all these things are way more likely to cause problems than chicken!
The average American family washes about eighty pounds of laundry A WEEK, and if you're using conventional products, the toxins from your laundry spill into the water🌊 and move into the air, both in and outside the home.😿
If you use dryer sheets, fabric softeners or even those popular fabric deodorizing sprays on your pet's bed and blankets, the "fresh scent" they leave on your laundry is actually a result of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) like formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and acetone.😳 VOCs can cause skin irritation, respiratory issues, and organ damage. Researchers have identified 25 different VOCs emitted from dryer vents when these products are used.💨
But fear not! You can create non-toxic laundry options that are safe for you, your pets and the environment.🐶🐱🏡 Join us today for a live demonstration in the The Forever Dog Learning Lab at 5pm ET, where we'll show you how to make your own pet-safe laundry detergent, dryer sheets and fabric deodorizer. Say goodbye to harmful chemicals and hello to a healthier home for you and your beloveds.🙌 foreverdoglife.com

One of the sweetest highlights of my week is visiting the residents at Laureldale Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Rory and Cooper (RIP) and Bodhi and Coco have been regular visitors for quite some time. We just love working with the dedicated staff and have enjoyed visiting many of the residents for seversal years. We always leave with full hearts.

When a client comes in and says, “Have you ever heard of ____?” We listen! Thank you Felicia and Brinkley for bringing BowWow Labs to our attention! We researched the company thoroughly! We tested many of their products! They are absolutely fantastic! The Bow Wow Buddy holds bully sticks securely and makes them infinitely safer. That last inch stays put, so it’s no longer a choking hazard!!! We’re fully stocked ! Thank you again Brinkley and Felicia!!!

Bolt fell asleep during the brief little lecture part of class today! Actually, this is super delightful because he came to us three weeks ago at the recommendation of his vet pretty jacked up and having lots of potentially dangerous conflict with his two fox terrier siblings. His parents have been amazing to work because they of course love their dogs, but they have also been so teachable and willing to make changes! They are learning how to bettter manage their environment, to read their dogs’ calming signals (those 30 or so cues that dogs manifest to avoid a fight that most of us miss altogether or misinterpret) and to set boundaries and show benevolent leadership so that their dogs actually feel more secure in their pack. Bolty is doing fabulous and loves learning and pleasing his mom and dad!!!!

Spring is coming and you want to get out and enjoy walking with your dog, but you hate being dragged. As we’ve said before, there really is no magic collar or harness that will make your dog stop pulling. Loose-leash walking is a dance of timing and consistency. We are excited to offer a mini course (3 classes) this spring, Saturtdays April 6, 13, & 20 at 3:00. If you have participated in a group class with us, you are eligible for this refresher course. Please call Whoodles 484-671-2571 to reserve your spot or for further information.

Patience is a virtue! I don’t know who first said that, but it’s as true with dog training as it is in life! Having children, teaching school, saving a little money for something special, and being married for almost 40 years have all helped me to develop at least a little bit of patience. I started to play the flute five years ago. I could barely make a sound, and my counting was abysmal. My poor teacher literally sat on the floor and physically held my foot and tapped it for me. You’d think I’d be embarrassed, but my desire to learn was far greater. I can play Chopin, Bach and Mozart now! Mind you, I play nothing perfectly…that’s the goal to play a beautiful piece perfectly! I suppose it will take another five years. Any new skill takes time, patience, consistency, and most of the time a good teacher or coach. My flute teacher is amazing. When it comes to dogs, I like to think about how people learn and how long it takes to learn something. People learn best when they feel safe and encouraged and rewarded, but it still takes lots of time. Dogs too! A surgeon will go to school for 12-15 years beyond high school. An Olympian will dedicate her life to her sport. Electricians, plumbers, and mechanics are worth their weight in gold. We pay hundreds of dollars to hear a favorite musician who has spent thousands of hours practicing. It takers a good three years to potty-train kids. It takes almost 20 years to teach our children good manners…and yet…and yet… though we love our dogs, our expectations are often quite unrealistic. I think it’s super helpful to emphasize that all the human experts listed above learned from another human who most likely spoke the same language! Dogs are other beings. We do not speak the same language. Training a good dog takes time, patience, consistency, benevolent leadership, and most of the time, a good trainer who will walk beside us. Ironically, we can learn to speak the “same”language, and most dogs, with the right encouragement can become model citizens in less than two years. Good dogs don’t happen in a matter of weeks. If my flute teacher shocked me every time I was off beat, I’d have bitten her, and I’d be burnt to a crisp.

Been saying this for ten years.
🚨Unsafe for human consumption but still allowed in your pet’s food products!
California has become the first state to ban 4 food additives linked to cancer and other diseases.❌ The California Food Safety Act has outlawed brominated vegetable oil, potassium bromate, propylparaben, and red dye no. 3 from being added to foods. Illinois and New York are following with similar bills, but have added titanium dioxide, a fifth unsafe food additive, to the list.
Lawmakers acknowledge that these chemicals pose a serious health risk, but the bill only bans the use of these additives in food and beverages for human consumption - but not in pet products.🤯😡
These cancer-causing, endocrine-disrupting, DNA-damaging chemicals have no place in our dogs’ and cats’ food!!
So what do you do when it seems like every label you read lists one (or more) of these disease-causing chemicals in pet foods and treats? 😱
We’ve got you covered 🙌 In Forever Dog LIFE, you’ll find gems like Medication Marbles and Sneaky Easy Pill Pouches - additive-free DIY versions of popular (but toxic) treats! And, of course, you’ll also find loads of other treats, toppers, and over 30 complete and balanced meals for your beloveds - with no unsafe food additives in sight. Let’s be honest! Very few people need a trainer to teach their dog to sit! Most of us have difficulty with the behavioral issues like jumping up, mouthiess, potty-training, reactivity, and loose-leash walking! These problems are our specialty! We have worked very hard to develop non-aversive methods to deal with these behaviors! Without special gadgets, collars, or harnesses … no shocking or anything unkind. See Freya, a young ginormous Grest Dane!

Here’s the truth! No special collar, harness or gadget will make your dog stop pulling on the leash! Sometimes they “work” at first, but they tend to have a shelf-life, and your dog ultimately reverts back to pulling.
Loose-leash walking is a dance. Sometimes I even compare it to pairs figure skating. To succeed, you must develop connection, focus and timing. It is also helpful to really love walking, but to despise being dragged! Let us teach you how to dance with your dog so you can truly enjoy walking together! Give us a call 484-671-2571!

I love our groomers! Their skill, kindness, patience and gentleness are unbeatable. It is a pleasure for me to work alongside of them every day knowing and trusting that they never cut corners, that every single dog leaves the salon groomed as a precisely as he will allow. I’m grateful that the girls take such pride in their art and that they try so hard to achieve what owners want. Often times this level of commitment takes a great deal of time because there are many coat types that tangle and mat easily. It would be easier to simply shave the dog down. But, to gently and humanely detangle takes enormous time.
Dogs learn to be groomed, and it takes a very special love to kindly acclimate a dog to the process, so the groomers share honestly with owners about how that process is progressing. Owners know that when we say, “Annie was wonderful; she almost fell asleep and gave me kisses,” that it’s true!
Because we spend considerable time interacting with each dog examining every inch of their body, we become keenly aware of behavioral and physical changes. We catch many issues which may require veterinary intervention!
We love our clients and their dogs immensely; we never take for granted that you have entrusted us with their care and we are thankful for the love and appreciation you express to us.
Please enjoy photos of some our recent grooms!

Finally got some decent weather for the last out of our fall adventure series. We really enjoyed a little field work, riding the train, and visiting the pumpkin patch. The dogs and owners were wonderful. The staff at the WK&S railroad we’re very nice. The witches were especially adorable .
When you’re seven years old, and you listen in class and do your homework !!! Note the attention of BOTH pup AND handler !!!
We like to think of loose-leash walking as a dance. Sometimes I refer to it as pairs figure skating because timing is everything! This is what we teach at Whoodles! You have to despise being pulled by your dog and you have to be passionately teachable to succeed! I’m talking about the human end of the leash!!! There is no harness or gadget that will stop leash-pulling… there are some tools that help for a limited period of time, including shock collars (which ultimately, in the hands of a frustrated/impatient handler end up doing way more harm than good) but there is no substitute for genuine bond-building, positive training that yields a life-time of pleasure and connection! But, you have to want it badly!!
We had a spectacular time with these folks and their dogs! We are constantly tweaking our curriculum because we want our clients to become dog whisperers who feel confident and truly competent to take their dogs wherever they want! We want to develop confident, happy dogs who can coexist peacefully among other dogs in a public setting! This does not mean that they should be able to greet every dog they see with joy! On the contrary, we’d prefer they simply be able to walk past other dogs without reacting at all! Afterall, we don’t stop and chat with every person we meet on the street!!! Anyway, our outing began with a brief lecture refreshing our clients on the Six D’s, healthy socialization, dealing with reactivity and learning to read some 20 plus calming signals ( those subtle behaviors in our dogs that indicate anxiety and which serve to diffuse conflict) ! We then went for a swim/splash, hiked in the woods, enjoyed some lunch and visited dog friendly shops! John and I both felt that this group of parents remained so beautifully in/tune and connected to their dogs that the entire excursion was an absolute joy!

Sue and Chet and Lily’s Story Sue is turning 80 and Chet is 85! They had raised Dobermans when they were younger! They wanted a puppy, someone to love and to pour their hearts into! They chose Lily, a little dachshund mix. First. We applaud their wise choice! Lily is small and doesn’t require much in the way of grooming except nail trims which they have been religious about scheduling! Many times seniors grow nostalgic for the breeds they loved in their younger days! As trainers, this is one of the greatest mistakes we encounter… seniors choosing larger more energetic breeds for which they no longer have the stamina! Often times, such choices become downright dangerous because of falls etc. Second applause because they sought support and training. The first organization rejected them from beginning puppy class because Lily was too old at 12 weeks. So Sue and Chet brought Lily to Whoodles and trainer John worked with them one-on-one. They completed basic training. Then we carefully grouped them with another pup, Chunk, a Dalmatian of similar temperament owned by Kyle and Rosemarie Campbell for positive socialization and higher level obedience! They did absolutely fantabulous!!! Lily is a pro at having her nails trimmed… and just check out this 50’ sit-stay! The requirement for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Tilte is 20 feet! Seniors can be successful with a new dog! We are very proud of Sue and Chet and Lily! Seniors can successfully incorporate a new dog into their lives!!! A little wisdom regarding choice, significant commitment and support goes a long way to a success story!
It’s not every day that nine Golden Retrievers grace Whoodles all at once…Shelby, Eric Church, and D’Artagnon came for training . Trixie, Chewie, Lizzy, Elliot, Archie, and Oliver all came for their Spa day! Everyone was wonderfully behaved ! It really was a Golden day!
We’re serious about loose-leash walking! It is a forte for us because we believe so strongly in going for a daily, unstressful walk that you both enjoy!! It doesn’t matter if you have beagle who is ruled by her nose or if you have an exuberant lab or if you have personal challenges such as MS or Parkinson’s or Down’s or anxiety, we are utterly committed to helping you enjoy your dog. The pups in this video have worked really hard with us! They are all going on a train ride together for their next excursion!!!
Here’s Buddha, an Old English Bulldog puppy learning to fetch! We think fetch is an important skill because it’s a healthy fun way to interact; your dog can get good exercise even on a rainy day and he learns to “Drop it” which comes in pretty handy when he grabs the remote or a squished toad on the sidewalk etc.
