I’ve hated this horse. Yep. Can you believe it? When he was born I made sure he has healthy, stood and nursed and went back to bed and cried. I cried every time I saw him for weeks. He wasn’t what I wanted and I was mad at him, the universe, Trey and God.
You see the week before he was born, I lost his sire, my heart horse, the love of my life, way too soon. We still had things we were going to accomplish. He was an extension of me. He took 1/2 of my heart. When he died, I prayed every night for a filly to carry on the lines. ‘Please, please just give me a filly. Didn’t I deserve it after losing him? I couldn’t lose him and all my dreams of preserving some of the greatest TB jumping lines of all time. It wasn’t fair.’ And then to have this C**T who looked just like his sire, be born while I was still grieving. It was too much. It was a kick in the gut. My heart broke over and over again every time I looked at him.
Life’s not fair. I was angry. I was broken.
But sometimes, the universe knows what you need and doesn’t care what you want. When he was about 6 months old, I was taking manure up the hollow to dump. I was near Trey’s grave and decided to visit. As I got close, God Gave Me You started playing on my phone and I turned around and saw Ditto standing in the corner of the pasture, all alone, the herd no where in sight and he was just staring at me.
I heard the lesson loud and clear and from that day forward I let this c**t heal my heart. I’m so incredibly grateful for getting what I needed, and not what I wanted. You made my heart smile every single day. Even though it’s broken again I wouldn’t change a second. Thank you for everything my sweet friend. 💔

Please keep watch over us. You were always our keeper. I’m not sure who I’ll get my late night stress relief hugs from and I do not know how I will walk into the barn and not see you there but I will try.

3 blues for the man this weekend. 1st in the BN CT, 1st in the 2’3” jumper division and 1st in the 2’9” jumper division. We also went around the 3ft division with 1 rail. Proud of this handsome fella! We had a blast! 💙
