A horse, usually neglected, abused or abandoned is collected by us. If the horse is out of State a Coggins and Health certificate test is immediately pulled at point of collection. The horse is then transported to a quarantine hospital pasture, where he or she is photographed and a record is established. Once the horse is back at our facility our vet evaluates the horse and brings it up to date on
teeth, shots and deworming etc. The horse is then visited by our Blacksmith, who is well versed with rescue horses. The horse is kept in isolation for a minimum of 30 days. He or she is then introduced to our other rescues and a training program is set in place. During which time the horse will be evaluated. We envision running the rescue like a business; we need to be solvent in order to be able to save more horses. We want to be transparent and be known for our honesty and integrity. Horses coming into the rescue will not be made available the next day. The horses will go through an intensive program so that when they are ready for adoption we can determine what horse is best suited for the prospect adopter. Adopting a horse from Equestria means:
You have worked with the horse at our facility to make sure you are at one with your new best friend. We offer after adoption support. The horses that will come up for adoption are sound, sane and ready for their new family. Horses that cannot be adopted will remain at the rescue till the end of their lives. We want to offer assistance to horses in our community that are in need, We want to strive to raise awareness of the need for responsible horse ownership and thus one day hopefully eliminate the need for a rescue such as ours. We will screen adopters, and part of our follow up will be surprise barn calls to check on the progress of your new friend. (This will be written into the contract) We do not want to see one of our rescues going back into the slaughter pipeline, and see him or her at an auction. All our horses are microchipped at Equestria through EquineRescueNetwork. We are a non profit under the IRS(c) (3) regulations.
