This is true in so many ways. Jeff Honey and I have fed some ugly hay but it was some of the best hay too. Farmers from different climates store their hay differently and it may lose that bright green color everyone associates with alfalfa Hay but you still have the nutrients you need in your hay. Yes you want leaf but the stem is not a bad thing.
We always buy from the same farms, hay is always kept in a barn, always tarped in transport.
The biggest thing to remember when buying alfalfa Hay is educate yourself on where it is grown and cut. Don't buy cheaper hay to save a buck but take a chance on bugs.

Guys don't play with your horses health and safety! Get your alfalfa from someone that has the knowledge and does the work to ensure you don't have a chance of beetles in your hay! Location of where your hay comes from matters!!!!
We only buy from the same farms each load we don't switch it up chasing prices!

Hay hay hay, mishap with unloading this morning and busted a bundle of 2 string New Mexico alfalfa. This is the only way we sale the 2 string out of the bundle. So...... 21 bales $19 per bale take one or take all.
It will be gone tomorrow at 5 so if you want it come Tuesday 10-5 to pick it up.
Nothing wrong with it other than the strings that hold all the bales together busted and we don't want to hand load it.
