Helping Hands Rescue (HHR) observed a great need in our community to assist, rescue, foster, provide medical care and love for the unwanted, homeless, neglected and abused animals in our area. ization works diligently to reduce the population of homeless/unwanted animals through promoting and supporting an early spay/neuter. We do our very best to find loving and forever homes for all of the animals in our care. How cute is this boy! Barney is a happy 8-ish mo redbone c**n hound mix. He is ready for his forever home! Barney loves to play, is treat motivated and loves his people. He's in a foster home with dogs, cats and kids. He does well with all. He's just a happy and goofy guy! Barney is neutered, vaccinated and mostly house trained. Our Spaghetti Feed and Silent Auction fundraiser is fast approaching - Saturday, 2/8/2025! We are in need of donated items for our Silent Auction. If you are a local small business, are crafty or creative we could use your help. We could use gift cards, new items, vintage items, baked goods, services, etc. This is our largest fundraiser every year and we need your help to make it successful.
Donations can be dropped at our adoption events every Saturday, 10am-2pm, next to the old Shopko and Dollar Tree on Thain Grade. We can pick up items if needed. Message us on Facebook or call 208-743-3157. THANK YOU!!

Gabby is a very special girl and is ready for her new home! She is fully recovered from her heart surgery. This sweet and spunky 6-month-old pup is full of energy and ready to find her forever home. Gabby loves to play, explore, and spend time with kids—her playful nature makes her a perfect companion for an active family. She would thrive in a home with one or no other dogs, as she’s still learning how to respect personal space with her furry friends. She needs someone who can match her energy and provide plenty of exercise and attention. You can tell by the look in her eyes that she is raring to go! Rex is a 3 year old Australian shepherd. He is a very intelligent and busy boy. He would love to be someone’s adventure partner. He needs a job and/or daily exercise. He loves lick mats, frozen treats, and mental enrichment games. Rex loves to go on walks and rides in the car. Rex would do better as an only dog and has never been around cats. He has only been around kids that are school age. He loves treats and is highly food motivated making him very easy to train. He needs a home that has time to work with him and give him lots of attention. Rex is neutered, vaccinated and house trained. River is a 1 year old baby boy. He had a rough start to life and as such, is very guarded. He prefers a quiet home with a woman and other animal friends. He is very mouthy, always giving kisses and chewing on toys. He’ll grab your shirt sleeve or forearm to get you to pay attention and pet him. He’s a very sweet boy that just needs someone who will be patient, gentle and understanding. There are other dogs in his foster home and he does well. River is neutered, vaccinated and house trained. Why has this sweet girl not been adopted! BJ is a tall chihuahua about 2 years old and weighs 15 lbs. She loves to wear her sweater when going outside. She is partial to men after she warms up and will settle for a woman if the man of her life is absent. She loves nap time and bedtime snuggles. We love the way she shows affection with her special hugs. She is great with other dogs. Older children would be OK. She is just a very sweet girl! BJ is spayed, vaccinated and house trained.

ADOPTED!! This little girl is Lacey. She is a 3 year old lhasa apso. She's a sweet girl and loves her people and would be a great companion. She's a mellow girl with her person. Lacey is being rehomed because of her aggression with the resident senior chihuahua. She may do well with larger dogs, but we're not sure. We recommend no cats or small children. Unfortunately, Lacey is not yet fully house trained. She is spayed and vaccinated. ADOPTED! Rusty is a young heeler mix. He was abandoned by his owners and found roaming in a local community. He's a sweet boy that loves belly rubs and just wants to be with his person. Rusty is anxious around young children and even puppies. He does well with other dogs in his foster home. Rusty is interested in cats, but hasn't shown aggression. We are desperate for dog/puppy fosters. We currently need fosters for 2 young chihuahuas, a 3 year old shih tzu and 4 young puppies. Every day we have to turn down dogs in need because of the lack of fosters. Our rescue supplies everything the dog would need. You just supply the love and a warm place for them to crash. Meet Boston & London! These sweet girls are 9 week old and are lab/pit mixes. They already know how to sit on command and are almost fully potty trained. They are very smart girls! Both of them love to cuddle and their favorite thing is playing outside. They are current on vaccinations. Yesterday we took in 11 more puppies! This litter was born 8/16 and will be available for adoption soon. They are border collie/shepherd/mutt - 7 girls and 4 boys! SPAY/NEUTER!! This litter gives us a total of 108 puppies so far this year. All because people did not spay/neuter! We can pay 1/3 of the cost of any spay/neuter at any area vet clinic! We have 7 of these little ones. They are German shepherd/pit mixes (mamma was a small pit mix) born on 8/23 and are on the small side. They will be at our ADOPTION EVENT on Saturday, 10am-2pm, next to the old Shopko on Thain Grade, Lewiston. www.helpinghandsrescue.org/dog-adoption-application

This tall, lanky girl, was found in Orofino a few weeks ago and has been held by OPD. Her owner has not come forward. One of our fosters was contacted and we now have her in rescue. We'll get her spayed and vaccinated, then put her up for adoption. She's very sweet and friendly and happy to be out of jail.
