We're excited to support the May Kentucky Association of Equine Practitioners Membership meeting, which will take place on 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟭, 𝗮𝘁 𝟲 𝗣𝗠 at Spy Coast Farm Equine Education Center. Guest speaker will be American Association of Equine Practitioners President Katie Garrett, DVM, DACVS, who will update us on the AAEP’s Transforming Equine Practice Initiative.
At this meeting, you’ll learn what the AAEP is doing to address the issues that drive the equine veterinarian shortage. These include:
🐴 Compensation
🐴 Emergency coverage
🐴 Veterinary practice culture
🐴 Internship experience
🐴 Student experience
Dr. Garrett will inform attendees what the AAEP is doing to retain and recruit more horse doctors – and how you can be part of the solution.

Spy Coast Farm Young Horse Development Center interns, Bre Amerine and Kat Pate, presented their posters on Tuesday evening as part of the UK Ag Equine Programs Internship Showcase. Bre’s internship project focused on reviewing yearling radiographs of offspring from a few Spy Coast Farm owned stallions to create a new dataset for the farm to use in the future. Kat’s internship project focused on creating a bookkeeping system for the horse health, activities and maintenance components of their management on the farm. Both of them did an outstanding job presenting and sharing all about their internship experience. Thank you for all of your help this semester!

Spy Coast Farm was excited to have Bill Hawe, CEO of iEquiTek, speak today during Noontime Knowledge. He discussed the science and engineering behind riding surfaces specifically designed for equestrian sport. The Spy Coast Farm arenas are scientifically designed for safety, health, and performance. Each ring serves a unique purpose and is routinely tested and adjusted to meet performance levels.

Spy Coast Farm participated in the Scott County Middle School Career Fair today. The 6th and 7th grade students were able to visit our booth to discuss a “Day in the life of a Veterinarian” and explore all of the opportunities in the equine industry. Dr.Burleson, Dr.Starr, and Kristen Wilson demonstrated anatomy of the equine skull and distal limb. The students were very inquisitive with great questions and had the opportunity to visit with Augie doggie.

Intern Spotlight with Nadia Endulovski!

Nadia joined us in January of this year as an intern at our Rehabilitation and Fitness Center. As part of her internship, Nadia gave a super presentation on Orthobiologics in Equine Joint Disease at our February Lunch&Learn and has been a valuable member of our Rehab Team! She graduates from SUNY Morrisville this spring.
