Anyone missing their canine friend?? This cutie was found in the Ollies Parking lot off Richmond Rd. and unfortunately does not have any form of identification ☹️

The good samaritans currently holding on to them have been informed of all the proper steps to take so that they can be returned home.

Things you can do to keep your pet safe:
- Microchipping (owner + pet info)
- ID collar / tags (owner + pet info)
- Spay/Neuter (that’s right, fixing pets can help alleviate roaming which can be leading causes for missing pets)
- posting/sharing when pets go lost (contact Animal Control to let them know your pet is missing)
- Much more

Stenotic Nares:

1.) What are they? 🤧
Stenotic nares are when the nostrils are malformed often presenting more narrowed or “pinched” making it difficult for dogs to breathe properly. Considered to be one of the many factors for brachcephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS).

2.)Who is at risk? 🐶
Brachycephalic breeds are often more prone to malformations such as: Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, Shih Tzus, Pugs, Cavaliers, etc.

3.)Can they be fixed? 🔎
Depending on the severity of Stenotic nares/BOAS your veterinarian may recommend surgery to remove some of the malformed nostril to allow for better airway access.

This little fur ball was a champ today for their Stenotic Nare Surgery and will be able to enjoy life a little more now that they can breathe! 💕

Rabies is a zoonotic virus meaning not only is your pet at risk but so are you! Help protect your loved ones by vaccinating your pets against Rabies ☺️

*PS: Rabies must be administered by a veterinarian*

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department received word this afternoon that a skunk found in Lexington has tested positive for rabies. The skunk was discovered earlier this week by a resident in the Stone Creek/Willow Oaks neighborhoods. The health department posted signs in the area on Wednesday to notify residents of the discovery.

LFCHD officials continue to remind residents to make certain their pets have a current rabies vaccination. There does not appear to be any contact between neighborhood animals and the skunk, but officials ask that residents keep watch on their pets.

Rabies, a viral disease of humans, pets and wild animals, is transmitted from animals to humans by the saliva of a rabid animal, usually from a bite. State law requires that all dogs, cats and ferrets maintain a current rabies vaccination.
