With the start of the new year, means the young horses will be getting started as well. Also means it’s wolf teeth pulling time of year! Still have some dates for January, as well as February dates are available to be booked for appointments!

Is your horse:
- Loosing weight from possibly not being able to chew and process their feed?
-Not able to maintain weight?
-Dropping more feed than normal?
-Quidding (spitting out chewed food)?
-Throwing their head while eating or riding?
-Tilting head to one side or the other while eating?
-Gaping their mouth while riding?
-Any swelling or odor in or around the jaw?
-Fighting the bit while riding?
-Young and needs it first dental?
-Up in age just needing maintenance?
-Young and about to start training?
-Due for a Dental exam?

If any of these problems are arising, it is time to get your horses teeth checked to allow for these issues to be resolved. It is recommended that you get your horses teeth checked every 6-8 months from 1-6 years of age, at-least every 12 months from 6-15 years of age, and every 6-8 months at the age of 15 and older (but every horse is different, too). If none of these problems are arising but it has been over a year since their last float, it is encouraged that you still get them checked to ensure they are healthy and able to to perform at the highest level they can.

I can travel to you! If you would just like to get a price, schedule an appointment, just have any questions or concerns please feel free to DM, text or call 361-336-3442

THE BOOKS ARE OPEN AGAIN!
Books are open for October!
After a good time off for maternity leave, I’m excited to say I’m back to floating teeth starting October 1st.

I know summer run is done and the rodeo season slowing down, doesn’t mean they still don’t need routine maintenance done. Don’t forget just around the corner is time to start breaking the young colts and fillys.

With less than 30 days away from our bundle of joy coming into the world. I will be taking maternity leave from August till the end of September. If you have any questions or concerns I can still be reached but I won’t be doing any dentals. Thank you all for the support. I will make a post close to October when I will start opening my books back up to be scheduled.

Got a double yesterday in this young 3 yr old filly’s mouth, both wolf teeth and upper 6’s caps.
Owner stated that she was having some trouble with the bit in her mouth being overly sensitive, throwing her head and could tell something wasn’t right with the filly.
This is why starting to get your horses done at a young age is so beneficial to them. When starting under saddle with bits in their mouth the bit can hit on those wolf teeth or even the caps of those 6’s and cause some pain/discomfort.

Still got a couple dates open before the end of July. Can travel to you. Wondering if you need to get your horses teeth done?
-Dropping hay or grain
-Weight loss or no weight gain
-Reduced appetite
-Resistant, fighting or uncomfortable with the bit
-Throwing it’s head when coming to a stop while riding with a bit
A horse under the age of 6 should be done every 6 months, since their mouth is constantly changing and growing. Any horse 6 - 15 can be done every year unless something is going on inside to cause any reason to be in there more frequently. Horses 15 and older should be checked every six months as well (doesn’t mean they need work but just to be monitored) to watch for any teeth that could possibly have issues.
