Pulled some of the last straggler runts from the marble plakats spawn. Cuties were being too mean to keep together any longer.

My daphnia moina culture. Have successfully found a way that work for me! These guys have been going strong for 6+months. I think daphnia moina will be a game changer for fry rearing and excited to use it! 🦐🦐🦐🦞

My male Albimarginata released after holding for 15 days! Initially, I noticed because he quit hiding and was at the front of the glass begging for food. This tank is heavily planted with duckweed, water lettuce, Java moss, and some other plants that I can’t even identify. There is basically no way to know how many he released but I’ve counted 4 at one time so far. I fed them vinegar eels and setup a BBS hatchery that should hatch tomorrow evening. I left the name in the tank and gave him some black worms for his first meal. Eventually I will scoop him out and reunite him with his female partner.

So I came home from work and was headed up to feed the Albimarginata and Channoides. Normally, my Albi male is like my puppy waiting for me to come through the door but today was hard finding him. When I finally found him at the top of the tank he was chilling on an Indian Almond leaf looking tuckered out. His jaw was a little swollen and he kept doing a rhythmic movement with his mouth. I shined a light on him because at first I thought he was feeling bad but I caught a glimpse of several white balls in his translucent jaw. My Albis spawned today and he has a clutch of eggs in his mouth! I was not expecting this so early… just a week after shipping. I was hoping to get them well fed and comfy. I have BBS for the babies. I guess I’m going to leave the female for now and take her out if he continues to hold. Any wild experts feel free to chime in!

My wild betta albimarginata pair has finally gotten to settle into their cycled and planted 2.5 gallon aquarium. Fluval stratum substrate, Indian almond leaf, and heated to 75 Fahrenheit. I considered a 5 gallon but it would have been way too huge for these little fish! Sometimes it takes me a long while to figure out where they might be in the 2.5 gallon. PH was 6.8 with 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and 10 nitrate. The tank cycled in about a week with some help from beneficial bacteria Fluval Cycle. Small sponge filter and lots of plants! Any of you wilds experts please feel free to chime in with any suggestions!
