Years seem to pass quickly, but when you look back on all the highs and lows and all the many times we’ve danced together and continue to dance together, you realize that though it may seem fast, it’s been a a long time getting here.

Mecca Live Studio & Gallery began as a place where many people of many different interests could get together and explore music and dance and creative thought and put those thoughts and ideas into action. This incredible weekend we are grateful to be Holding Space together to share our dance, to share our time, and to welcome home our special guest Aminata Cairo.

Aminata will be here this weekend to present her book; Holding Space: A Storytelling approach to trampling diversity and inclusion. She will present her book during Gallery Hop at the Loudoun House on Friday Nov 19th. On Saturday Nov 20th, Aminata will be teaching a Explorative Dance Workshop from 11am-2pm at the Salsa Center on Lane Allen in Lexington. And the weekend concludes in a big way with our production Homecoming at the Lyric Theatre on Sunday November 21st.

We invite all to attend and feel welcome. This is a rare moment. We haven’t held a big stage production since the pandemic started in 2020. We have spent our time together through isolation, dancing on line, dancing outdoors through the winter, temperatures be damned! We’ve gotten through the pandemic through music and dance and sharing our devotion and love for these things as a community. We discovered new things and pushed our bodies to improve our technique in many styles of dance. On Sunday November 21st, we bring our hard work and love to the stage. Collectively we share the stage with dancers from our regional community and welcome Anaya Belly Dance from Cincinnati, Blackbird Dance Theatre from Lexington, Flamenco Louisville, March Madness Marching Band, Rakadu and Sh**ha and Mecca Dance Studio’s dancers. All the work is passionate, gorgeous, earnest and real. You will not see another show like this, we guarantee.

Please honor us with your support and presence and share space with us.
