Kingston is getting older now. Fireworks have never bothered him before this year. But their hearing changes and loud noises can begin to affect pain and arthritis they may have. He had started shaking, crying, and getting diarrhea. Since coddling them etc can reinforce this behavior I decided to try something different. Usually "get em" is for play time and "getting" whoever he's playing with (includes lots of barking). Decided to try that when we hear fireworks and it's been extremely successful. No more shaking, panting, crying or diarrhea. I'll take the barking any day.
Nobody pools harder than Hank
When you can't get out of bed due to 350 lbs of dog weighing your blanket down from all sides. I usually sleep on the edge of the bed to easily get out but the storm last night demanded maximum contact for snuggles and comfort .
Everyone all snuggled in for bed. Now to find room for myself......🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗
Tayles wins best sleeping face. She is the sweetest retired racing greyhound. So calm. So loving . So friendly.
Miss Maverick looking majestic as always
Dale and his Rottweiler "purr" . Any other dog I'd probably back out of the room but not this guy. He's leaning on me begging for belly rubs
Kingston loves anytime Rainbow comes to visit. It's a nonstop play fest
Wait.....are you saying you don't eat your dinner surrounded by a circle of dogs?
Wrigley is adjusting well. I'm so proud of him. The first couple days were a little rough. He was nervous, scared, confused. Wouldn't eat anything. No treats. Nothing. After a vet visit we've got him on steroids and antibiotics . His swollen red feet and ears are clearing up nicely. Where before he didn't want me touching either, now he's getting more comfortable and begging for ear rubs. He quickly learned if you want the kitties around you, you have to be calm. Now he will lay right with them while they eat . This video is literally the first time he has actively played with me. I've tried over and over. He could care less about toys . He loves his people. A real velcro dog. He loves hugs, kisses, pets, and lots of scratches. He'll even let you spoon him. He always sleeps on the bed. I'm happy to see so much improvement so quick. Wrigley's life is going to be nothing but spectacular from now on.
It's a nice relaxing movie night here. 3 dogs laying on my legs. The last right beside me. They sure know how to make someone feel loved
