The weekend is here and Kali, our albino granite burmese python wanted to let you know about the Nebraska Reptile Expo presented by Cold Blooded Expos going on this Sunday! Show is in Bellevue, NE from 10 am to 4 pm at the Beardmore Event Center. Come on down and check it out! We will have burmese pythons and ball pythons to check out! Hope to see everyone there!

We love our snakes, but we also love our monitors as well! This is Hulk, our new Green Tree Monitor! We are excited to have him with us, especially since we have a thing for monitors. Not only is he gorgeous, he is also full of personality!

This is our holdback from Misha's clutch. His name is Slickback. He is a little firecracker of a noodle. Today, he felt that the red yarn my wife was using for knitting was food. He might be a little spitfire, but I do love him and will have a place with us here in our little zoo. Hopefully, he will become less nervous with time and become a great breeder for us someday.

Hopefully everyone is safe and homes and vehicles didn't take too much damage. We had some large limbs in our front and back yard this morning, our pickup took a ding from a limb and we had some basement flooding. Probably would have been a lot worse if Dylan hadn't gone outside in the storm and pulled water from our window wells.
Some of the water went directly in Pig Pig's enclosure. She was fine, fast asleep in her basket and buried under her blankets but we had to wake her from her brumation to clean the water out so I think she's a little confused as to why she's awake. 😂

We wanted to tell everyone who made it out to the Lincoln Reptile show today thank you for coming out and checking it out! We can't wait to see everyone who plans on attending our reptile classes next month. We didn't plan on getting anything today but saw they had this little guy at the show and we couldn't say no! They are like a little Stinky, our Nile Monitor! They will be at our classes next month. Thanks again everyone!

All ball pythons are native to Africa but there is a certain locality of ball python from the Volta region where ball pythons can get double (or more) the weight of a ball python with descendants from other parts of Africa. The average ball python will reach lengths of 3-5 feet while a Volta region ball python can reach 6+ feet! They also typically have bigger heads and consistently have clutches of eggs that are 12 or more compared to other ball pythons that average 6-8 eggs.

Both these girls are adult/similar age "normal/wild" type ball pythons but the difference is the size! We just picked up the female on the left today and Indie (on the right) we've had for a few years.
Indie: 1,740 grams and 4 feet 2 inches
New female: 4,350 grams and 5 feet 10 inches and her head is twice the size of Indie's!

We can't say for certain that she is descended from the Volta region but she definitely has the characteristics! We have some exciting plans for this girl once she is out of quarantine! Name suggestions are welcome. 🙂

Wanted to tell this guy, Nox, an early Happy Father's Day! He just sired this clutch of 8 eggs from our mahogany girl, Orenda this morning. We are hoping for some darker babies in 60 days. Pairing was a Mahogany x Blackhead Red Gene.

Here is one of our holdbacks from Misha's clutch. His name is Lenny. This little baby is just a little more vibrant than his siblings. Possibly another gene he may be carrying! Only time will tell!

Not all baby burms are friendly out of the shell. This little baby flattens out in nervousness even thou she is laying with me. She is a temporary hold back until she can build up her trust in us. We work with our babies so when they leave our care, they are ready for their new homes. If they regress when they get to their new home, we try our best to give advice and suggestions on building that trust again. We think it is important that we, as breeders, make sure these babies are taken care of when they leave to their new homes.
