On Women's Equality Day, we celebrate the enactment of the 19th Amendment - the day women were granted the right to vote.

However, not all women were actually able to vote in 1920.

We must continue the fight to protect & expand access to the ballot box for all.

A Whole-Horse Approach

Our evaluation process is extensive. We teach students to consider 80 points during a saddle fit evaluation, typically taking about 1.5 - 2 hours to complete.
Why does it take so much time when you’re just looking at the fit of the saddle on a horse’s back?

Because that’s not it. Saddle fitting is far more than just making sure a saddle stays straight on a horse’s back. To truly enhance the comfort of both horse and rider under saddle, we go beyond ticking boxes, taking measurements, and observing the saddle from different angles.

We teach students to adopt a comprehensive approach, thoroughly assessing the horse and rider before them. Our students embrace a whole-horse methodology, learning to consider the entire horse during a saddle fit evaluation. This involves palpating muscles, assessing hoof angles, and addressing postural challenges. We do not teach students to massage, make chiropractic adjustments, trim hooves or give nutritional advice.
So why bother?

Fitting a saddle without considering a horse's need for a chiropractic adjustment or the tight muscles and fascia, would be neglectful to both horse and owner. Likewise, making adjustments to keep a saddle straight on a horse's back when the rider's posture is crooked would be detrimental.

As saddle fitting professionals, our CEEs and CSEs are integral parts of the circle of influence, consisting of at least eight interconnected segments.
As equine professionals, our responsibility extends beyond completing the specific service we are there to perform. We must have the skills and knowledge to look beyond our professional scope to identify and address the root cause rather than merely treating symptoms.

Understanding the work and impact of other professionals, allows us to optimize a horse's health collaboratively. We need to lean on each other to best support the horse, applying a ‘Whole-Horse Approach’.

Horse owners and equine professionals alike can benefit tremendously from improving their understanding of anatomically correct saddle fit.

Inability to meet a need ≠ that the need is wrong.

The failure of modern manufacturing does not determine whether a specific need is right or wrong.

For example, if a person requires size 9 shoes, but manufacturers only provide sizes 8 and 10, does that then mean the measurements of the foot are incorrect due to the manufacturers inability to meet that specific need?

This applies to saddle fitting and the failure of the many manufacturers to not only meet the specific needs of the horse, but also in the misrepresentation of their products and misinformation spread regarding the needs of the horse.

Such misinformation as "this saddle never needs to be adjusted" or "fits every horse" or as we most recently saw was “maximum freedom of movement” as a justification of short, forward-facing tree points..

What a horse requires in a saddle is not determined by the manufacturer, but the horse, based on the anatomy and biomechanics to prevent pain, injury and compensatory postures.

To cherry-pick what is and isn't important based on what is available on the market, or what is easiest and cheapest to manufacture is inherently wrong and is what has lead to the constant crippling of horses by saddles, reps and some fitters.

Demand drives the industry, but so long as people remain uneducated about the importance and methodology behind anatomy-based saddle fitting, manufacturers have no reason to change as saddles continue to be purchased.

From independent saddle makers utilizing the CEE course for their saddle designs, to both high-level and everyday riders demanding manufacturers provide better saddle options, the industry CAN change for the better and it starts with each and every single one of you!Comment ‘EDUCATION’ and we will select a free resource to send to you right now!

Change is afoot; you can feel it, an energetic surge hanging in the air. We embrace seasonal change, we decorate for autumn, plan apple picking, and pumpkin patch adventures.
We burn scented candles, and wear cozy sweaters. We embrace slowing down, seeking comfort, releasing, and letting go with the trees.
These are the changes that feel great, exciting, and fun. But with change comes challenge. Distractions from our goals and conflicts in our new routines. Mindfulness and intention allow us to continue to carve out new paths for ourselves in the face of challenge; providing the support we need to achieve our goals and step into growth. All while embracing self-love, slowing down, and letting go.

I wanna grow up to be like my kid!!

I wanna grow up to be like my kid!!

Last night I heard giggling and turned around in the cutting pen to see my child fully embracing her horse in fits of laughter as he arched his neck to expose his most itchiest itchy spot. My heart smiled. This morning I watched her slap on her seat belt and crank the radio up and yell at me to do a burn out on the gravel and drive faster with her hand out the window, again my heart smiled. A 10 yr old girls ability to find joy in everything is life goals. She’s blessed she’s yet to know much in the way of stress and heart ache but if she holds onto the feeling of joy even when it’s fleeting she’ll deal with it much better. On the way home I found myself doing another burn out just because. I wanna be like my kid when I grow up.
